Dermatomyositis

Hi all,

Has anyone been diagnosed with dermatomyositis ? I have sle,sjorgrens, connective tissue disease and now this. it would be good to know as I haven`t seen any mention of this on any of the blogs .

Hi there I have SLE & raynauds so far lol!! I have secondary rashes to the lupus that are linear in fashion on my trunk inner thighs & insides of my arms all symmetrical. Dermatologist said they are bizarre and my GP thinks they are very interesting ! Great. They itch when I get warm. Dermovate works within days. Just look like my flanks have been slashed by Freddie Kruger. So not sure what mine are yet. Hope someone gives you some useful advice though. These forums really do help don't they. Take care ktmil

Hi Katie

I had something very similar and used the same expression about freeid kruger! However, they are turned into awful stretch marks?? My lower half is covered in really thick, wide marks that are 3-4 inches long. Did you get these? Whenever I get hot, my rashes get worse

Thankyou for your response,I do have rashes but they are not itchy, just looks unsightly, not sure if it is caused by lupus, sjorgrens or dermatomyositis, Who knows? it could be any of these, I do suffer badly with painful and swollen joints and my legs have got considerably thinner and weaker to the point where they often just give way. Oh! when I think back to the days of keeping myself fit ready for old age, didn`t work. (gets a bit deppressing doesn`t it) still never mind it could be a lot worse we have to keep laughing and plodding on (in my case shuffling). Well one consolation of weight gain due to meds is that if I eat too many easter eggs no-one will notice.Ha! Ha!

Hi

I've just been diagnosed with Dermatomyositis, Ive got the red rash across my chest and upper arms, terrible rashes on my back. Ive just come back to work after being off for quite a while and sitting down is agong due to pain in my back around kidney area and also pain in my stomach muscles and abs. I can really feel the muscle deteriating.

When I got the diagnosis I was so relieved as it explained so much, but it is such a scary condition
