I take Hydroxychloroquine for Sjogrens / MCT disorder. This month my Chemist has sent me Quinoric instead of my usual brand. Has anyone been given this ? My Chemist is very good at getting my drugs but couldn’t get any this month and apologised for sending the Quinoric . I would be grateful for any positives or negatives on Quinoric.

Hi I’m new on here , I have lupus and I take Quinoric but don’t get a choice my chemist seems to give me whatever they fancy I will say since they have been giving me this I need the anti sickness tablets on other I’ve not needed them .I also get different brands on predisilone I also take
I take Hydroxychloroquine for SLE and Sjogrens. Started on Quinoric without problems, then my pharmacist switched to Zentiva. I’ve not reacted to or noticed any differences thankfully. I know some people have difficulties with certain types of Hydroxychloroquine. I’m sure somewhere on here is a thread ?
Hi, I never know which hydroxy I get, I’ve just got 2 boxes this month. The only difference for me is the horrible taste the quinoric gives. When I get zentivia, I feel happier but just can’t tell which one they give me. My face falls when I see the quinoric.
Hi there, personally I could not to,reare Quinorec. After 24 hours I was living in the loo. I refused to accept it after that. I think it is down to what they mix the drug with? See if another chemist can get your usual brand for you. Good luck xx
Thank you all so much for your report backs on Quinoric. It just shows how different we all are ! I think the fillers are the problem.I already have digestive problems so don’t want to make those any worse. I seem to have a choice of taking it and see what happens or cutting the dose of remaining Zentiva from 400mg to 200mg a day to make it last a bit longer.
Meanwhile I will phone my Chemist to ask when they are likely to be able to get Zentiva again. I must say while I was having Chemo a couple of years ago
I stopped both Zentiva and Mycophenolate and never felt better as far as Sjogrens was concerned ! But then I was having Steroids too !
Oooh what kind of reaction if that's okay to ask? I usually got Plaquenil or Zentiva but a few months ago they gave me Quinoric and the first few days I would wake up with red spots on my face, but it stopped after a few days and now I continue taking it so I thought it might have been irrelevant :S
Hi! I have tried Plaquenil, Zentiva and Quinoric. Plaquenil is my favourite and then Zentiva is very similar, but Quinoric is the worst out of the three because as someone else mentioned that it gives a horrible taste. The film coat melts really fast and you are left with a bitter aftertaste. The first time I tried it I noticed faint red spots on my face but it might have been irrelevant because a few days later I continued taking it but the spots didnt show up again and they might give months of supply of Quinoric and I just take it and I am completely fine!
Negatives from me I'm afraid. Quinoric made me unwell it affected my guts, diarrhea, pain and nausea. Called my gp who put plaquenil on my prescription as that one suited so well. Seems its the fillers in the pills that make the difference.
Same problem with Quinoric I too have IBS. . I have Zentiva but had to go to an independent pharmacy as Boots and Lloyd's both said they dont get it . It's more expensive apparently. Plaquenil was fine but not available any more sadly.
I phoned my (independent) chemist and they found out that their Supplier’s system had been down and they do in fact have Zentiva . So hooray !As someone else said it appears to be the fillers that make the difference.
Since Boots was taken over by an American firm I think it is rapidly going down the pan. The independents are much more human.
Anyway thank you all again for your helpful replies.
Hi - we all react differently to any drug. I prefer Zentiva, but wasn’t too bad on Quinoric - Black Rock (?) make me unwell. There is a thread on this website. Once you find one that works do as others suggest - I wrote to my Doctor and finally get Zentiva. I think it is the coating on the pills ??
Has anyone produced a detailed list of ingredients for all the different brands of HCQ?...that goes beyond the patient’s info leaflet? This would help us all particularly for allergy sufferers and ingredients that give a bad 👅 👅?
