Hi, I need some advice please. My son started developing spots yesterday and more today. I have SLE and on azathiaprine and 5mg prednisolone. I’ve had the chicken pox vaccine. I was always told to be careful and avoid. If chicken pox he has been infectious already. I know he will continue to be when it blisters. Am I protected enough to be around him do you think?

At least you have had the vaccine! One step in the right direction.
If you develop ANY signs of CP, get the GP to start you on antiviral medication. There is no point starting it now before symptoms because it will only work on active virus.
The incubation period for chickenpox, the time between exposure to the virus and the appearance of symptoms, typically ranges from 10 to 21 days, with an average of 14 to 16 days. He was most infectious the 24 hours before the first spots and will no longer be infectious once all the blisters are scabbed over. So keep an eye out in a week for you starting to have spots. I would contact the GP now and ask for the antiviral medication so you can start taking it immediately if you need it.
yes it happened to me last year with my little one getting it. I was fine. If you’re worried you could call your rheumatologist or the nurses though x
