So I have this rash on my leg and another on my arm and another appearing on my other leg, I've had the Ana blood test which came back clear, does this look any thing like discoid lupus and is that diagnosed in the same way via blood test, also my liver function test came back high so being refered for a scan on my liver and been getting joint pain, doc said not concerned as not stopping me doing things. I'm awaiting dermatogoly nurse to take pictures been it's been like 5 weeks--had the rash for about 5months and a new one appearing, sorry for long post just want to know what it is?!?!

Dicoid lupus rash???
I had a rash resembling this 2-3 years ago, before my health problems really started.
It used either to itch or hurt. Had various potions prescribed, eventually GP GAVE ME PREDNISOLONE ointment,as the cream stung.
It worked aslong as I used it.
Now after 30 minutes in the sun it’s come back.currently looking for the cream!
Nowhay a diagnosis of lupus and NSIP?
Don’t know the answer,sorry
Hi Lasa29,
According to The Lupus Encyclopedia, a discoid rash typically occurs in the shape of small round or disc-shaped areas. It usually begins as small, reddish bumps. The red area spreads outward, but in the middle of the area where the bumps initially appeared there will be a scarred area of skin with permanent loss of hair and pigment changes to the skin. Discoid lupus erythematosus occurs most commonly on the face and neck area. We published a booklet on lupus and the skin which you may find helpful to read at lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
An ANA test confirms whether or not a person has an autoimmune disorder, it is not sufficient for making a diagnosis of lupus. dsDNA antibodies are very specific for lupus (as they are not typically seen in any other condition or in healthy population) only approximately 60% of people with SLE will test ‘positive’. Therefore if someone is positive for these antibodies, it often means they have lupus, but if they are negative it does not necessarily mean they do not have lupus. 90% to 95% of people with lupus will experience muscle and/or joint pain. We published an article on our blog about pain management which contains helpful tips and information: lupusuk.org.uk/pain-managem...

I've got the same kind of rash currently on my thighs n my left arm ..I have a diagnosis of SCLE..I shall be asking my dermy about it because although I'm not new to rashes...this one is unusual for me!!
I'm on meds though including long term pred..I'm happy to give u the list if u want..u don't say that you're on any medication yet..so im assuming that your not.
As well as the internal meds I have steroid ointment that I use as needed n I'm currently using Dermol lotion n dermovate ointment on it n it's fading xx
I've managed to post a pic of my legs so u can have a look...no mean feat for me coz I'm not that cyber savvy xx
Can't seem to see the image, not on any medication literally waiting for some pics to be send to dermatogoly, they did treat me for ring worm but the cream did nothing for the rash! Also sorry to ask so many questions did u get a positive Ana blood test for diagnosis?
Turns out I'm not that cyber savvy then 😂😂sorry!!!
Yes I was diagnosed on the positive ANA n ds-dna result..had loads of bloods done n got the diagnosis from there..all through dermatology ..n yes I've been told ringworm as well by some docs but it's definitely symptoms of my particular brand of lupus xx
I've put the pic on a new post so if u have a look in your more news feed u will find it there..so u can compare xx
Check out Krazykat reply, discord rash is different from SCLE rash...
Hers. Kk & mine (didn't realise she is diagnosed already with SCLE) are similiar rashes, hydroxychlorquine helped mine calm down & aches & pain since then also diagnosed with Sjogrens....ml
