High cholesterol and high TSH with mixed connective tissue disease

Hi. I've been diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. Has anyone else experienced cholesterol going up in tandem with TSH? I also have high blood pressure (150/90). When I questioned an NHS endo about the relationship between the high cholesterol and MCTD, he dismissed it completely.

If you take any kind of steriods...mine is prednisone...it shoots your cholesterol and blood sugar up.

Why is it that the medication for the disease seems to create more problems than resolve the issue? Then there's meds for those side effects, then more meds for the side effects of the meds to control side effects 😐... My aunt passed away from developing fibrosis in her lungs after being on steroids for her RA. Her hands were completely disfigured by that time.
