I have been suffering with discoid lupus for 5 years now.
i have had some pretty nasty flare ups since being diagnosed. One flare up resulted in having to spend 2 weeks in hospital.
I recently had another flare up… After nearly 12 months in remission… And I started to get bald patches in my hair which has never happened in previous flares. Needless to say I was devastated.
My consultant prescribed me dermovate for hair and scalp. It worked wonders as it has virtually gone in my hair after just a couple of days of using it.
I also had a a bit on my face and to my amazement… A bit accidentally fell on my face when I was applying it to my scalp and it took away the rash in my face.
After speaking to my consultant he said the dermovate for scalp and hair is safe to use on my skin also..
Which has really helped better then the dermovate ointment cream. I hope this review helps my fellow lupus sufferes.

Hello, Beryl. I have SCLE (sub-acute cutaneous lupus erythmatosis) which is similar to discoid lupus. I also get dermovate scalp lotion and agree with you it is good and works quickly. I’ve used it on my face as it works quickly but I didn’t mention it to my consultant so I’m pleased to know that I’m not doing something I shouldn’t be. I’m just recovering from a bad flare too; the worst for four years. I’m extremely sun sensitive and this year the summer seemed to go on forever. I hope it’s not a sign of things to come!
It’s lovely to hear from you. Am very sorry to hear you are suffering from a nasty flare up. This disease is very cruel.
Yes I thought at first my consultant would not be happy with me using it on my skin. But he was totally fine with it and said it is safe to use on my skin. And to use it if it is working for me.
I have had some nasty rashes on my back also, but after a few days of applying dermovate for hair and scalp they have reduced significantly in size.
