Hi lovely . I literally French my legs in BetterYou magnesium spray for sensitive skin . I do about 10 sprays on each leg (I apply it with disposable gloves as if can make you hands sting ). It does work but I think the trick is to spray them before they get restless if that makes sense .
Mine are always bad when I sit down to watch some TV or car journey or in bed .
When was your ferritin last checked ? I often find when the levels drop the legs get worse .
really annoys me that when they say “bloods are ok” because yours could have dropped and you may be on “low side of normal “ . Definitely get a copy of bloods from GP because it is worth checking the ferritin levels and magnesium (if they ran that test ) .
I’m exactly same as you don’t really want loads of drugs especially when don’t know the cause of problem is . Hope this isn’t too much info but I do get awful constipation and I find the magnesium spray helps a little with that too . It also can help to relax you which would might help if you are feeling stressed .
Hi. There are stretching exercises for restless legs which might be worth a try.
You can search for them online, but the one that worked for me was to sit upright in bed with the legs out Infront of you, toes pointing towards the ceiling. Then tense the lower part of the leg & try to lift your heel off the mattress whilst keeping the back of your knees against it. Hold this for a few seconds & repeat a few times.
I've had rls for what feels like forever and it got to the point that if I didn't get help for it I would lose my mind. The Neurologist that I was going had me on Ropinerol and it worked for a while but it needed to be stronger and as my would have it he sold his practice so I had to find a new Neurologist and I did. It was like night and day and the best thing that happened to me because she's amazing, she put me on 2 different doses so it is a lot but for the first time in years I can sit still and sleep without it waking me up and it's wonderful! I know you said you would like it to be drug free and I know there are Dr's who teach you to move, I personally don't know how it works or if it works but I think it's a Neurologist you have to see, ask your primary Dr for a referral. Good luck!
I’ve had RLS for years too and was prescribed a drug by my rheumatologist. I didn’t want to take it as you had to every day but I may have to one day. I’m not sure I cope totally with it but I use magnesium spray (doesn’t always work in my case) and have a regime before I go to bed. I walk around the garden every night ( this also is for my gastroparisis), warm my lower legs by having a hot bath, have an electric blanket and when I go to sleep a hot water bottle between my knees - not too hot though. My RLS is definitely related to my Raynaud’s and also if I’m constipated. I don’t read before I go to sleep for more than a couple of minutes as the longer I’m in one position (bed) awake the more likely I am to get an attack. The trick is I find is to get to sleep very quickly once I’m in still and in bed. At times it wakes me and I walk downstairs, try legs in air and take paracetamol. If early enough half or piece of Zoplidom. Sometimes if I know I’m going to have a difficult night (pain etc). I take paracetamol and half a zoplidom before bed. Things that make it worse are days sitting (cars, lectures etc), dinner at friends (I also walk after dinner at home!). I don’t mind too much if the evenings are bad but hardly ever sit in a chair relaxing! I’m a constant jiggler. Also we have a dog so get a walk in a day. All this moving helps my digestion too.
Hope you find a way to deal with it. I’m sure everyone is different and I’m lucky I don’t get it all the time. I seem to go through phases.
Many thanks for your reply. I also have Raynaulds, my feet and lower legs are extremely cold most of the time. I use a hot water bottle at night to help.I will certainly give the magnesium spray a go.
Stops restless leg twitches, as advised by my nutritionist, it works fast and throughout the night. Various options to choose from on their website, I have the range: energy, menopause, nighttime calm. All fabulous. Quality product.
(I am in no way affiliated with Nutri Advanced and do not benefit personally recommending their products)
Magnesium comes in many forms; citrate/glycinate/chelate/bisglycinate/malate etc… In my years of experience, If a product seems cheap it might not be the right form that works well.
