I had an endoscopy last Tuesday and yeast was found in my esophagus. I had had oral thrush 6 weeks ago and was prescribed fluconozle. Now I’m on it again but pharmacy says it is a level one alarm for hydroxy and F. To be taken together. I have thrush in my entire mouth and throat. Leave for vacation tomorrow. Actually was supposed to be today but I have to figure this worry out first. Surely there are some or many folks in same predicament? Thanks. MrsMarigold 🌼

Need help fast! Hydroxy and fluconozole Don’t mix? What to do?
Hi. Have you not contacted your gp for advice? I take azthromycin 3 times a week and there was a safety alert in March regarding taking it and hydroxy.my consultant reduced my hydroxy down to every other day so I don't take it at the same time as the azithromycin. If the fluconazole is short term you should be ok stopping the hydroxy while you take it the same as we stop our immunosuppressants when we need antibiotics. Have a good holiday and a merry Christmas x
thank you very much. I think what I will do is fluconozole in am and hydroxy half dose late afternoon. Does that sound reasonable?
Yes you could do that until the fluconazole is finished or if its longer term over the holidays then check with Dr in the new year. The MHRA safety alert was for possible heart issues while taking azithtomycin and hydroxy at the same time.ive had no issues separating them. X
i was prescribed Nystan which brought me out in a rash . What worked for me was Daktarin , which i got over the counter, gargling with warm salt water and cider vinegar was also soothing. I hope it clears up soon.
thank you. 💜
I think I would prioritise the thrush over taking Hydroxy given it’s recurred and in your oesophagus.. Usually Fluclonazole comes in a single capsule only I think but I’ve had it liquid daily by dropper too so maybe wrong. For what it’s worth I’ve found the only way to be thrush free is to avoid all sugars and yeasty food such as bread for a good period of time. Hope you have a lovely holiday and happy Christmas!
