Hello. I’ve just had my second Rituximab infusion yesterday and all went well. I always wear a mask when I’m out due to vulnerability of infection. Won’t take any risks. The infusions themselves are fine. If your taking Prednisolone just let them know what mg as they’ll adjust the Prednisolone Pre-meds accordingly.
I had to have a tooth extraction, but I get 2 units of platelets beforehand. I have had an infusion of rutiximab but made no difference to my platelet count so therefore just get platelets x Good luck .
Retuximab wipes out your B cells completely from what I understand. Therefore it makes you very vulnerable to any infection. It is very important you read the booklet thoroughly, provided by your doctor, and also stay away from alcohol completely. You will need to rest a lot too as it is your first time. Loopy is right. You need to be aware of the premed (with hydrocortisol) and make sure your prednisolone take is fine. I was never given any warning neither by doctors or nurses at the infusion unit. So I ended up suffering.Good luck!
