Anyone else get hives, itching and itchy rashes with Lupus? I never had these before Lupus but I have them now!
If so what has helped you? I've tried H1 antihistamines (allergies/zyrtec) and upping the dosage but it doesn't seem to help enough!
The itching is all over and the hives can last for minutes and some larger ones last for up to a week! (which I have heard is a sign it's an autoimmune hive??)
Any other treatments of recommendation to try?
Thanks! I need them haha!

Hi i have only recently been diagnosed with lupus. For the last 2 years i have suffered with itching that i thought was residual from . I then also had a rash and itchy lumps on my arms last summer. Got even worse this year when i was in spain for a couple of weeks. Seems like uv light can trigger a reaction. My dermatologist gave me some betnovate steriod cream and for first time in months i am not itching
I was given dermovate and elecon by my dermatologist, I can only use it for two weeks as it does thin the skin. It did work but that little bit of sunshine has brought it back as I didn’t have sun cream on. 🙄
My lupus rash is nearly always itchy and lasts over a week — fades to what almost looks like a bruise before disappearing. Mostly on my waist, around my neck and on my shoulders. Not sure what to suggest except the standard anti-itch treatments and cold compresses sometimes help me. Sorry!
This year it has started about three weeks ago on my face, across my nose, cheeks and eyebrows. I saw my Rheumatologist over a week into the itching and he prescribed Hydrocortisone ointment 1% to apply twice daily.
This has really helped as I tried Antihistamine and even Suda Creme. The redness, itching and rash is fading. x
