Survey of people with rheumatic conditions about fourth vaccination dose - survey closes 7th April

LUPUS UK are proud to be a part of the Rare Autoimmune Rheumatic Disease Alliance - RAIRDA 💜

RAIRDA have launched a short survey to help them better understand the experiences people with autoimmune disorders are having whilst accessing the 4th COVID vaccine dose.

This survey focuses on the following areas:

- Access to the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

- COVID-19 treatments* and access to these treatments

- Employment

Please only complete the survey if you have a rheumatic condition AND believe yourself to be eligible for a third/fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

To be clear the 'fourth dose’ is a ‘booster’ dose. You can get a booster (4th dose) from 3 months (91 days) after your 3rd primary dose.

Is it necessary? I feel worse after the 3 one with breathing tiredness high blood pressure etc

Hi Mystik,

This booster dose will help extend the protection you gained from your first doses and give you longer term protection. The booster will also help to reduce the risk of you needing admission to hospital due to COVID-19 infection.

I am sorry that you are experiencing these symptoms after your third dose, I would suggest speaking with your doctor to get their advice on your situation. I am aware that your doctor can discuss timings with you to so that you have the time to get/feel better before going for another booster.

I tried to do the survey but couldn’t answer the first question. I was told that my third vax was the third primary vax and I would get a fourth ‘booster’ vax as well after 3 months. This was told to me by both the person phoning me to make the 3rd vax appointment and again by the nurse doing the vax. My 3rd vax was on December 11th but I have heard nothing since. I have received nothing about being eligible for the treatments either. So I do not fit into any of the answers for question 1.

Hi Jumper99,

We are aware that not everyone who was classed as 'clinically vulnerable' is eligible for the fourth vaccine.

Fourth vaccine doses should be offered around 6 months (and not before 3 months) since your last dose of vaccine. As you had your last dose was in December you may possibly be contacted later on in the year.

Thank you for your reply. Perhaps things have changed. I was told in December by both the people I mentioned above that I would be contacted in 3 months and that was the rule at the time. It’s difficult as we don’t have any communication to tell us things have changed nor do we have anyone other than our GPs to ask about it and they are so busy at the moment that it seems unfair to add to their workload. [Iburtalot]

I started with a chronic cough after first booster. Got the second booster anyway las Saturday, had low-grade fever, achiness and joint pain throughout my body and extreme headache. Lasted 15 hours. Still coughing though. May not get any more shots.
