Hi all, I wanted to know If anyone here has successfully claimed taxis to and from work through access to work there is the odd occasion that my flare ups get so bad I can't deal with public transport and my employer has paid for me to get a cab home but now they are asking for me to claim via access to work and the process is daunting to me

Hi. I haven't tried for myself but have successfully managed to get a staff member on immunosuppressants the taxi support. It just means a form has to be filled in which covers all the journeys taken and signed by a manager. Good luck

I have access to work. The process was not too onerous. You’ll need supporting evidence. There is an online form to complete which is frustrating as you don’t see all the questions at once. From memory you have to justify why you need the support eg why you can’t use public transport or drive. An explanation of your condition. You’ll get a caseworker allocated to you. They can be slow but be patient. I get it for another condition as that condition was causing me the main problems in terms of mobility. Once successful the paperwork for claiming is laborious and you pay up front and claim monthly. It can mean you’re owed quite a lot. It takes them about three weeks to settle my claims.

Hi, I get access to work, they pay for my taxi’s due to Lupus. You have to get three taxi quotes, a supporting statement from gp or rheumatologist to go with the form.I found it easy to do.

Again they can be slow to pay but some taxi firms take you on as an account and claim the money at the end of a month.

Once allocated a caseworker they will talk you through the process.

Hope it helps, I wouldn’t be able to work without it as I have an hour to travel by public transport otherwise
