First time on here but was recommended to join this community to speak to peers going through similar situation.

I got diagnosed with lupus earlier this year and have been on a medication treatment plan since June. It’s not really working - especially when I reduced the number of steroids each day.

My doctor has now recommended that I take Mycophenolate or Methotrexate- which would be fine if I was not trying to get pregnant. The additional complication is that I am nearly 37… so after a potential year of medication… am I likely to fall pregnant… as I do not have nature on my side.

Anyone else gone through something similar? Anyone fallen pregnant after being on either of these medications.

Great to hear some thoughts.

Do your gyn/ob and rheumatologist know you actively wish to get pregnant? Is there concern that your present disease activity would be a risk to you or a baby if you were to delay treatment for the time being to conceive and carry to term?

It is important to get medical input from your treatment team on this issue for the answers are very specific to your case and our stories may be very irrelevant to what you need to consider and act upon. Good luck.

There are lupus treatments that are safe to take during pregnancy, but you need to discuss this with your doctors and have close monitoring during pregnancy and after delivery.

Best wishes.
