Hi everyone I hope your all doing well?

I have 2 questions 🥰

I went for my hospital appointment on friday I was told i need to have another pfizer injection then after 6 months a booster!

I was very shocked when I heard this. Has any one had this?

I was double thinking on getting the booster

I rang the hospital back in case ther was a confusion however they said due to my immune supressent medication i will have to!

Second of all ….

Also this time next year praise the lord they hoppint to take me of my myclofinate which im taking im guessing thats the immune supressent I am on, has any one been taken off this and how they felt ? Did any of your lupus flair up if so

Would love to hear back

Xx

Yes I have had my 3rd jab.I’ve had 2 Astra Zeneca but had not built up any antibodies after jabs so 3rd was necessary. So they gave me a Pfizer jab A booster then in 6 months But I have lupus & kidney transplant. Sorry I’ve not been taken off any of my meds so can’t answer the 2nd bit of ur question .

Research studies have found that the protection level of the vaccines (all of them) start to wane after about 6 months, For people with normal immune responses it isn't massive and the protection is still about 75%. But for patients who are immunosuppressed either because of their illness or the medications they were taking at the time of their vaccinations the original level of protection is much lower. Studies have also established that a third dose of vaccine forming a primary vaccination of 3 doses gives immunosuppressed patients almost as good protection as the 2 doses of primary vaccine for healthy people.

As a result, the recommendation from the JVIC is that immunosuppressed patients should be given a third primary shot that may be given from 8 weeks after the second shot. Then they will get a booster as a 4th shot 6 months later. Healthy patients who only need 2 primary dose shots will get their booster as a third shot 6 months after their second shot.

My GP surgery asked me first if i wanted a 3rd dose and when I said yes I was sent to my local hospital to be given it along side with staff members. I was given a permission slip to hand to the nurse giving me the jab and I noticed it had on 1st dose, 2nd dose, 3rd dose, & booster on the slip. On my slip 3rd dose was circled whilst the nurse next to me had booster circled. So when I was called in for my jab I asked what the difference was and the nurse said both are exactly the same injections but by circling 3rd dose on mine it means I will be getting a 4th dose in 6 months if the vaccination committee signs it off and then another every 6 months until covid is almost gone or changes into a cold like scientist think will happen. All this information was in the letter my GP sent me along with the number I had to ring to book my Jab. If you have not heard about your 3rd dose I would ring your GP as that's what I did then followed the call up with an email. Good Luck.
