Hello everyone

I thought we'd have a fun pic this week and couldnt resist this Great Dane called Diego. He commutes to work with his owner Carlos on a former Russian Military Vehicle!. I just love his expression, hope you do too!.

Hope your all as well as possible and coping with having booster jabs.

MistyX

P.s. i finally received a podiatry appt but don't laugh it was for a telephone one on 30/10!. Unless he can do injections down wires i know i still won't have it but at least i can update how painful foot is!. πŸ˜€. Its not too long to wait either. Xx

That’s a great photo misty. So nice to see Diego has all the safety equipment on too.

I’m glad that you have been given an appointment. Shame it is a telephone one though. Hopefully from that they will arrange for you to go in and get the injection you need.

It wasn’t a very nice day here today. Very wet, although not cold. My brother took my Mum and I out to donate three bags of books to the charity shop. Children’s books my niece has grown out of. She got her vaccine today, and would like a Kindle for Christmas, so don’t think she still wants to read The Gruffallo! Xx πŸ“š 🐢 🏍

Hi GloomyE, my 8 year old granddaughter has written her list for Santa already and it includes A CROP TOP! When I was 8 I wanted Fuzzy felts and plasticine. They grow too quick , let’s treasure the young years πŸ€—

Children today do grow up too fast. My niece is 14 and I do think a Kindle is a good thing to want. I try to encourage her reading and have done since reading her stories as a tot. She is now an avid reader like me. Wants a Kindle as she can keep her books without them taking up space.

When I was 8 I wanted a dolls pram and a β€˜baby like a real one’. Don’t think I have ever owned a crop top! Xx πŸ‘š

Im glad you liked the pic ge. Its good diego is being looked after properly by his owner. Its wonderful to see that there are still characters in life isnt it?.

Wonderful you've donated a lot of books and your niece has had her vaccine. That must be a relief to you all. Your mum will have a booster soon?. How old is your niece?.

I love books and never really liked accessing them on a device!. We're collecting books to read for winter. Do you read ge?. We 've got a lovely Age UK shop near us that sells new and second hand items. Its lovely to go and have a look in it.

I hope too that its not long for help after my tel appt. I figured it was best to have an appt rather than no appt!.

Have a safe and good week. Xx🐢❀🐢

My niece is 14 and she loves reading. I am an avid reader and can read at least a book a week! I have a Kindle. I’m glad I do as my fingers get so stiff and painful I find it hard to hold a book and turn the pages. Kindle is so light and you just need to tap the screen to turn the page. You can also own thousands of books, taking up no space, as they can be stored in the cloud. I keep reference books on my device and download novels when I want to read them. My fingers have taken my hobby of cross stitch from me so I wasn’t letting them have reading too!

Enjoy your week and look forward to next weeks cutie pic! Xx πŸ“š πŸ“– πŸ“•

I must have known svfarmer, so glad you liked Diego. Bit big for Bea and Mira!. Do hope your all doing well.

Ive already had a couple of face to face appt's with this podiatrist and he's now got a letter from my rheumy to say do this injection. This appt is to tell him how foot is and to see if he will do it. If not then im going back to the foot surgeon who can sort this nerve out!. Ive got an open appt for him but ive got to give podiatry every chance!. I am fed up as i do need help.

What a great pic Misty. 😍 Diego did make me smile. Hubby had a Great Dane called Hogan just before I met him and he told me all about how gentle and loyal he was but weighing 12 stone he wasn’t a lap dog! 🀣🀣 Pleased to hear you have an appt albeit by phone. Don’t hold the ear piece too close in case your injection does come and hits you in the ear!πŸ˜† But being in so much pain is no joking matter and I hope they get you your injection very soon afterwards!πŸ™πŸ»

No word of our booster or flu jabs here in Southern Scotland yet. 😟

Thanks again for the smile Misty and I hope you manage to cope with your pain until your appt. πŸ™πŸ» Take care. πŸ€—πŸ˜˜xx

Thanx spotty for your lovely message. They do say the bigger the dog the sloppier it can be but its more down to the breed. Ive never wanted to put it to the test after having a bad experience as a child. It's amazing what stays with you!.

I did think about ringing the hospital re this appt but decided id have to wait till november and at least talking to him about foot is something this month. I do think id been forgotten hence the tel appt. I have decided if its not proactive i m going back to the foot surgeon. Thank goodness ive got his open appt!.

I do hope the weather is warm and sunny for you as it is with us.

Have a good week. Xx🐢❀🐢❀🐢❀

Yes, childhood experiences can have a life-long effect on us. My Mum was attacked by an Alsatian when she was 11 and bore the scars to her dying day so was naturally wary of dogs, especially large ones, all her life. So I sympathise with your wariness too.If the pain gets any worse I wouldn’t wait until next month Misty. Being able to contact the foot surgeon is a godsend. I would do that if it gets any worse.

We’ve had a showery day with intermittent sunshine. Not that fantastically warm either. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Enjoy your week Misty. πŸ€—πŸ˜xx

Yes, I've waited quite a while. I was referred by my GP to the 'spinal team' as I have a lot of unexplained back pain, which resulted in the phone review by the physio.

In the end, the very young-sounding physio admitted that my problems were outside of his expertise (!!) He mumbled that he would have to speak to my GP to discuss where to go next.

A complete waste of every ones time.

Grrrr 😑

I hope your phone interview is more successful

Thanks weathervane for your lovely message and glad you liked Diego. What did you think about Strictly?. I was sorry to see kelly and gorka go. They shouldnt really have been in the dance off!. It was a lovely show with some amazing performances.

Have you had the result of your foot ultrasound?. Hope the insoles have helped you.

Interesting as my rheumy mentioned about having one to this podiatrist in his letter so this phonecall im hoping should be more proactive. Ive seen him face to face twice now so if nothing much is forthcoming im going back to the foot surgeon. Ive got an open appt with him. I do need action now so he's on test!.

It is so frustrating that the phone consultations are still continuing, i know the hospitals have alot to catch up but you do need face to face to physically examine what the problem is . I did have an ultrasound, forgot to say , there is a small neuroma which doesn’t need action .

I loved movie week on strictly , everyone was wonderful, awful that someone has to go .

I had a couple of days away last week with my husband to south of Ireland, was bit drizzly but did get some walks along the beach and good food. You have to show your vaccine certification before you go into restaurants etc very strict !!!

Great to get a change of scene πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Hope you and your family are all good , take care xxxπŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

misty14 profile image
misty14β€’ in reply toweathervane

I do think weathervane that phone /web consultations have their place . The problem comes when they're not used appropiately ie first consultation when they need to examine the patient / problem as you rightly say.

Im so pleased you went away and had lovely walks. Just wonderful to have a change of scene specially as you've both had such a tough year!. Glad too restaurants were strict so you felt safer. Thats so important.

I did something yesterday ive wanted to for 2 years , 2 particular shops in town and then we had a bite to eat . Restaurants here not so careful. I must admit i feel more vulnerable not double-,jabbed yet but it did feel good to achieve it. Also its shown how painful my foot is to walk and i so need help with it. It'll make me push for it when i speak to him. Glad your neuroma doesnt affect you like mine does.

Im looking forward to strictly, another treat for us im sure. πŸ’ƒβ€πŸ’ƒ

Have a good rest of the week. Xx

weathervane profile image
weathervaneβ€’ in reply tomisty14

So glad you got out for a trip to the shops πŸ˜€. When are you due your next jab ?

I didn’t have any reaction to 3rd jab at all , got flu jab on Saturday which was more painful !

I think we need to look after ourselves if we are doing things ,keep masked and use sanitizer. My neighbour and his wife got pinged at weekend and have posted tested positive, they are feeling not too bad and are double jabbed .

Stay safe and enjoy strictly, I would love to be able to dance πŸ’ƒxxx 😘

misty14 profile image
misty14β€’ in reply toweathervane

Thanks weathervane for your lovely message. I so agree with you re being careful and I am masked and sanitised!. I'm not due my jabs till mid Nov which is later for me because of the covid one!.

I see you had your jabs separately whereas our surgery is doing them both together!. I'm so not sure about it but have no choice!. Luckily my parents were ok, just had sore arms which soon went!. It is a lot for our bodies to cope with isn't it?. I'm pleased you were ok, just having to be careful from the flu one!.

In some ways my foot is helping me stay home and covid safe as I can only manage weekly outings because of the pain!. It keeps me sane!. Hope your neighbour keeps as well as poss. What a worry to be pinged and test positive. Are they your age group?.

I got an invitation from the NhS and Imperial College to be part of a covid study to see how many cases there are in different parts so NHS can plan care for winter. I signed up and will get a test kit soon. I said yes as i feel I'm doing my bit for greater good!. We do get the results and will be followed thru out 20 years!.

I would love to dance too weathervane. Mum used to have lessons and she loved it. Would have been lovely to have followed her but I did with tennis. The program is just so inspiring and how they move their hips?. Oh boy weathervane we can only dream Can't we?. Ha ha!. I just love Rose and Giovanni and how they're overcoming such a lot!.

Enjoy it and take care this week too. Stay safe. Xx

You are so right taking part in the study , i know people who have got alot out taking part different health studies!I love Rose and Giovanni as well , she is amazing , her last dance was so romantic πŸ’•

Its a shame about Robert but nothing to do with covid. He's found the training too tough as he's recovering from a heart attack!. They do have to work hard.

Rose and giovanni make the perfect partnership, they really do. Like i think tilly and her partner do too. πŸ’•

Where did you have your 3rd covid vaccine weathervane and did the hospital organise it?. Ive just had a text from nhs saying how immuno-compromised i am and to speak to gp or hospital consultant!. Im eligible for the 3rd vaccine and not the booster and ive confused the two!.

Im speaking to rheumy dept tomorrow( message leaving) and maybe gp on weds it depends what i find out!. Each side will pass the buck i expect. At least ill have them separately, been worried about that!.

Im still confused about booster and 3rd jab!!! Ive had all mine at the hospital, my husband also had his there as well as he was a caregiver for his Dad . I think mine were organised by rheumatology . My son had astra zenica at gp surgery while he was still on methotrexateβ€” so confusing! You are right to ask about it as it would appear some people are falling through the net .

I hope you get sorted soon so can stay safe πŸ’ƒπŸ˜˜πŸ’ƒπŸ’•πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ

misty14 profile image
misty14β€’ in reply toweathervane

Thanks weathervane for your lovely message. Im so glad its not just me whose confused about all this. You would have had the 3rd vaccine like me because of retuximab. Its worse than mtx for not making antibodies afterwards!. If your son is on 20mg mtx or above then he's had the 3rd vaccine too. We will have a booster later too!. How's he getting on now?. I hope a lot better!.

I rang my rheumy nurse helpline and its changed as i spoke to a receptionist rather than just leaving a message!. She said they were only contacting people on mtx injections. People taking it orally they think gp's should sort out!. Silly really, why not do everyone as its a small number. I rang my gp surgery and told them!. They admitted they know nothing about this so took my details and will be in touch when they've set something up!!. Im still shocked how hospitals and gp surgeries don't talk to each other!. Im booking my flu jab as this will take awhile!. Get it done!.

I took the opportunity to say to rheumy dept that i needed advice re health and one of the nurses will phone on mon betwn 2pm -4 pm!. Hopefully it will be helpful.

Another couple, oti and ogu, the rugby player are out of Strictly too this week. Do hope we still enjoy it.

Have a lovely weekend and keep safe too. XxπŸ’ƒβ€πŸ’ƒπŸ€žβ€πŸ’ƒβ€πŸ€žπŸπŸ‚β€

The dog is very cute.the phone podiatry is beyond ridiculous.I had a phone hand appt from occupational therapy.

They rang to make the appointment the week before.

On the day the phone call was about 10 minutes.

She said she would send me some hand exercises via a link.

When the link came,it was to YouTube.which is useful as I can find other exercises.

But have some questions.

/comments.

It’s taken 5months for this appointment.

Given that they aren’t see patients, why is there such a back log.

Were they doing phone conversations through lockdowns.

Sorry to go on.

On a positive note I’ve continued to have DMARDS blood tests throughout, also 3 monthly appointments have continued Phone consults, but that’s ok,I’m am at about the same general stage of knackerdom as before.x

misty14 profile image
misty14β€’ in reply toOshgosh

Thats just awful oshgosh that you'd waited all that time for a call like that!. You could have got those exercises for yourself on Youtube!. A first appt really does need to be face to face to see the problem area for themselves.

I do think phone calls/webchats have their place now in nhs consultations and we're stuck with them but they need to be used appropiately. When they are then it can work and save us a journey and car parking stress.

Also i think

that they're giving themselves added stress by not dealing with patients effectively enough!. This is my 3rd appt with him and no nearer having treatment. You times that by numbers of patients waiting and its no wonder theres a backlog!. To be fair its only certain specialisms like physio and podiatry probably that are like this more.

Im glad oshgosh your getting your bloods done properly like i am and your consultant appt's are happening 3 monthly!. Thats really good as mine have got longer. Rheumy and gastros are 11 months behind with follow ups!.

Im glad you liked Diego and i guess we must just keep plodding on as best we can. Have a better week. Xx🐒❀🐒❀
