Hi I need to have an operation ( booked the 3 Oct ) on my hand to straighten the middle finger and little finger , my right hand , the damaged was caused by inflammation of the tissues, the bones are fine , anyone had this type of procedure?

Thank you 🙏

Trigger finger release? Never had it done but my father has. Had multiple steroid and sclerotic injections. Went for surgery. Quick recovery time and he’s a type 1 diabetic. Hasn’t really had problems since. I know a lot of ppl who get it done and have never heard a unsuccessful story. Anything in particular you’d like to know?

Thank you , really reassuring, I just worry incase something goes wrong and I lose strength or feeling or catch an infection, I know the rehabilitation period is more important that the actual operation . Thank you again 😊

Hi. I had a trigger finger release operation many years ago.

Had to stay in hospital for 1d before the op and 3d after!!! Most certainly wouldn't happen now.

I had no problems after the op and none since.

I'd go for it without a doubt.

I have ulnar deviation , the tendons need to put back into place , I’m not sure if it will work , all the doctors said to do it but I have raynauds to so maybe the recovery could be longer , anyone who could give me advice would be great . Thank you 🙏

I have marked ulnar drift and the surgeon who replaced my elbow , is keen to operate on them . My rheumatologist says leave them if you’re coping . Not sure what to do .🤔

No advice or experience of this but wishing you the very best of luck for your op xxx

I've had two trigger finger operations, pre lupus diagnosis, one with the NHS and one privately. After initial problems (nothing serious just quite a while to heal) both are absolutely fine now. Another finger started to go but then I was diagnosed with lupus and put on my meds and so far (touch wood etc) it has been a lot better.

Any idea whether trigger finger is associated with Lupus? This and Mortons neuroma (which I've also had) seem to be common in AI disorders.

I don't know but I wondered the same. Pre-diagnosis I had plantar fasciitis (which seems to be coming back), the trigger fingers and carpal tunnel in both hands (had ops on both - fantastic procedure). I had problems with the tendons around my knees when I was a teenager, too. I also have a Morton's neuroma (they think). I started with it about a year or two before diagnosis. Waiting for podiatry appointment. What did you do about yours?

Very interesting.

I had an op to release my trigger finger, but many years ago. The Morton's neuroma was removed about 10y ago without too many issues - it did take me quite a long time to recover though. I would have it done as it's usually done as a day case (general anaesthetic).

I'm having a partial knee replacement in the next few weeks - Covid permitting - as the meniscus in my left knee has been almost destroyed. Not caused by OA, but I do also have muscle weakness/disease so this might be the cause. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

No carpal tunnel problems - yet!

Take care. I hope you get the MN sorted soon, xxx
