Hello

I was diagnosed with membranous nephropathy which causes protein leackage through urine. I was wondering about your experience with common side effects of this medication. I am very worried because I am a phd student in my final year and need to work very hard on my studies

So sorry to hear of your current situation. You should ask your doctor about side effects as there are a lot of them. Tacro is typically well tolerated but levels must be closely monitored along with standard labs to ensure no toxicity. Most people experience nausea/diarrhea and can get infections more easily. Fatigue can happen but not debilitating.

I’m assuming you’re in the UK. A new drug, Lupkynis, has just been approved in the US. It is the same as tacro-, named voclosporin but doesn’t seem to build up to toxic levels as quickly which requires less stringent monitoring. Maybe you could ask about this?

Wishing you a swift and safe recovery. Sending hugs. ❤️xx
