Dragonfly in the garden!

Went out to the garden to just have a sit down as the sun was nowhere to be seen. Saw this little creature near our little pond, on our washing on the line. Never seen one this colour. It’s just sitting there and not moving no matter how close we get. I do hope it’s okay. Any ideas what’s going on?

It’s huge.

Black and yellow long bodied dragonfly staying still on a pair of trousers drying on line.

I have just looked it up. It’s The Golden Ringed Dragonfly.

Yes it’s flown off the washing now. I was worried it was there to die or something. Phew. It was probably attracted to the pond.

Yes we’ve had many this year in the garden and I’ve had to stop the chooks trying to catch them 🙈 they’re not too shy are they 😍 very pretty x

I have bees and sometimes butterflies attracted to my washing. I wonder if it is the scent of the washing liquid or conditioner that attracts them? What a beauty your golden ringed dragonfly is. Lovely to see. 😁 Thanks for sharing BL. Take care. Xx
