I've recently experienced the same symptoms that preceded a major flare that I am (thankfully) just about getting over. At first I thought it was just something I ate and I tried treating it myself with bed rest and ended up in hospital. Big mistake...

It's best to call 111 and describe the symptoms to them. They advised me to present to A&E and get checked over as dehydration can make the flare even worse.

Best of luck, and I hope you feel better soon!

Many thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear you have had similar I hope you recover soon. I have been drinking alot and found traditional Lucozade helps. I phoned my rheumatologist and I am seeing them tomorrow. I hadn't heard that you can get sick etc with a flare. I had a blood test Tuesday so hopefully they can help me tomorrow. Together we will get through this.

Funnily enough, I was on flat cola and honey & lemon for days, water didn't help one bit. My kidneys ended up nearly failing which explained the nausea and gastrointestinal symptoms as toxins built up in my blood. It hid as an infection which is no surprise, given that lupus is known as The Great Imitator.

Glad to hear that you're not waiting like I did to get help. We will get through this 💪

Yes, sadly, but never comes at a good time. Last time I was at an outside performance so had to spend second half in a portaloo. Then went home and went into flare, tiredness, joint pain. A good flare leaves no body part out. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi. Thanks for your feedback. I was wondering if I had norovirus along with a flare. At least now I've had two responses on this fab forum it's probably connected to the flare. Off to the hospital soon so they'll check my urine and let me know my blood results. I was due to have my sixth cyclophosphamide infusion (chemotherapy for myositis) today but not sure thst will happen now. Fingers crossed they can give me some help. Thanks and friendship to both of you who have replied.😘👨‍⚕️🏥

I haven’t had full blown sickness, but I’m at the start of another flare and I’ve had nausea and diarrhoea for the last few days as well. I hope yours clears soon x

I have seen the consultant who thinks it was a bad flare or maybe a flare with infection. Unfortunately the bloods did not show as they were done Tues am and flare started late pm. He was happy for me to go ahead with infusion which I am having now. Thanks fellow friends for all your support. 👍😷🙂
