Rheumy update for all that wanted one

Hey guys! Just an update on my second face to face today. This is a long one.. so apologies for the long read... but I have finally left an appointment feeling like I have been listened to and believed.. and I’m just over the moon.. even if the outcomes not exactly the most positive...

So I had my hand ultrasound which revealed arthritis is both hands (finger joints) she’s now ordered a hand X-ray but I am not entirely sure as we saw the arthritis on the ultrasound

I coughed in her office earlier and it sounded dreadful. Even I was shocked 😂 - she said my chest X-ray from the other week was clear so now she’s very concerned about the cough and has ordered an urgent MRI chest and pulmonary function test.

My kidney function is back up to 80% yay!! So I’m allowed to start taking my naproxen again but only for 5 days a week then I have to give my kidneys a break for 2 days to recover. She’s ordered another panel of bloods for two weeks time.

She’s confirmed I have raynards.

She’s testing me for vasculitis Aswell now.

My eyes were blood red shot today and the rash was present with slight swelling she has advised me to try some new eye drops and bathe my eyes twice a day for a week or two and if no better then she’s referring me to opthamology.

My liver is inflamed again and we don’t no why but that’s just another one of life’s mysteries..

She’s also referring me FINALLY to dermatology..

Anyway.... I’m feeling really positive that finally I feel like someone cares about my health.

Hope everyone is feeling as well as they can be.. and hoping for some positive results for all you guys that are still struggling with a diagnosis like me x

Lots of love!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Very happy you feel your symptoms are being taken seriously. I could tell they were pretty concerned about you and thought you had something they just can’t quite nail down as of yet. But, yes, an urgent MRI of the lungs in the middle of a pandemic means you are being taken very seriously. These connective tissue diseases certainly can affect the lungs, and the problems may be harder to diagnose than your every day pneumonia.

You can rest assured that the inflammation in your joints alone is an alert.

That is good news about your kidney function. Again, you are being watched very closely.

Hang in there you brave soul.

Thanks kayhimm, I really thought I would go there today, they wouldn’t find anything wrong with my hands and I would walk away feeling lost again. But even with the devil on my shoulder. The stupidest thing is the bad news for me is good news. How many people can say that makes sense! It’s crazy!

How are you xx

Everyone here. Most of us were ill for a long time and didn’t know what was wrong. Nothing more desperate than that because there is no hope of getting better.

So it does make sense. People want to understand why their bodies have betrayed them and they want help.

You are going to be care for. Remember that.

We understand why this is great news! No one wants this but knowing something is wrong and having someone not only validate it but actively start doing something about it is so encouraging! I’m glad you had good news about your kidneys too.
