Rash

Hi all.

I have just come up with this rash, I’m taking pred and hydroxychloroquine. Sorry for the pics, but they show the rash. Unfortunately they do not show a chippendale physique.

Any ideas please

Have you been out in the sun without covering up and slapping factor 50 all over ? Both lupus and hydroxchloroquine can cause sun sensitivity 🤔 x

No, I haven’t been in sun, apart from nipping to shop, but was fully covered. This just appeared this morning.

Thanks for making me smile about the chippendale comment 🤭 Rash nothing to giggle about though . Rashes are a nightmare could be one in a million bloomin things 😳. Keep the picture and take another one . Worth taking a Benadryl if you’re allowed see if it goes down ... take care

Could it be shingles? Itchy at all? Please make sure it isn't. The nerve damage takes years to recover.

Do you think it might just be the heat/warmer weather? I take pred and hydroxy, amongst others, but they don't give me a rash. I do get a little red under my bra in warm weather though. I haven't got the chippendale physique either, or rather whatever the female version might be. Damn!! 🙄😏

Is this only in the area seen, predominantly below chest ?Tbh looks more like a hives type due to heat/ sweat and given current temperature might not be helping .

If you sweat more pure spoken so any irritant from fabric softeners of washing powder can trigger urticaria .

If it’s itchy and all over that’s more urticaria type allergic reaction but

If you on steroids itching shouldn’t be a problem .

As with all things lupus ( my skin breaks out if I so much as sneeze half the time !)if it persists speak to Doctor or nurse specialist for advice.

I had no problems with hydroxy, no rash from taking them. Might be worth checking it out with your gp if it doesnt clear up.
