Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has had their bloods Checked for Lupus and it’s come Back clear even though your experiencing and have all the signs that’s pointing to Lupus?

Hey, I have all negative results for antibodies and other bloods except my folate levels were really low at 1.8, my creatinine was 103, with kidney function at 62%, and inflamed liver. Liver has now resolved on its own and folate has come up with the help of prescription folic acid. I have been showing symptoms over a year now with a Malar rash across my face at times, awful burning itchy rashes on my face arms and torso, sometimes on my chest, swollen fingers and aching joints, sometimes I ache so much I struggle to get motivated to get out of bed. rashes from the sun, intermittent thinning hair, intensely itchy skin at night, fatigue and mouth ulcers. I also now have a non resolving peri anal abscess which I’m waiting for an MRI to see if I have a fistula formation as it’s been 10 months and not got any better.

My gp referred me to rheumatology to get a diagnosis of lupus/RA - as they can’t diagnose me because of the negative ANA .. and I’m under colorectal team for the abscess who told me to tell the rheumatologist about it as she thinks it’s linked to an auto immune disease.

I have my appointment on Monday. I will let you know how it goes on Monday. But I have a feeling with a negative test they don’t even concider lupus or so I have been told. I know there is a 11 symptom criteria you can meet and if you have 4 of them then lupus can be considered. Let’s see... are you having any further tests or referrals?

I finally managed to speak to a gp this afternoon and they have said I am to have a full blood check and all for Lupus as well on Monday, so I will have that done 1dst thing Monday morning and fingers crossed something is done when they have the results back. They have also proscribed me with Ammatriptonlean (I have misspelled it) painkillers to start taking all the time. X

I have sero-negative lupus. that is where my blood test came back negative but i showed so many symptoms such as malar rash, swollen and painful joints, chronic fatigue, nasal and mouth ulcers, intolerance to the sun, pleuritic chest pain, hair loss, rashes on hands and arms, ulcers on fingers and toes, reaction to insect bites, digestive problems, blood and protein in urine without an infection, dry eyes, raynauds and antiphospholipid syndrome.So don't give up hope yet xx

Hi, have they only tested for Lupus or did they include bloods for Sjogrens Syndrome?With Sjogrens at least a third of patients are seronegative and it's not called the little sister to Lupus for nothing as you can have the same symptoms and like Lupus everyone is different in the severity of symptoms. One lupus patient may have mild symptoms yet other's can suffer really badly, some Sjogren's patients can go through the ringer with one or more of their symptoms at times as well.

It was just a thought as you only mentioned blood test's for Lupus.

Yes, I had negative results at the beginning of my lupus even though I had all the symptoms. The consultant decided to give me steroids regardless and then next blood test came back positive. This was ovee 30 years ago.

Hi Maggie,I’m new to sight and still unconfirmed diagnosis.

5 years of joint/muscle ache, extreme fatigue, jesners lymphocytic infiltrate rash on face, bald patches as lost hair. ANA kept coming back negative. Just recently my new gp who I saw for first time straight away looked at symptoms and said lupus and ordered specialised bloods. They have come back with Lupus anticoagulant and anti smooth muscle antibodies. I don’t know know what this means as I’m seeing rheumy end June and also repeating specialised bloods. It is though an eye opener to being Ana negative but testing positive for antibodies x
