Not really sure why I'm posting.... just feels like all things Lupus related are just the gift that keeps on giving....

So my Luous & Lupus Nephritis are both reasonably stable and settled at the moment.... I finally found the motivation to address my weight gain and in 5 weeks lost 8% of my body fat, through changing my eating habits and seeing a Personal Trainer once a week.... started to feel a little like my old self again.

One of the things aside from weight gain that really gets me down is how much my face has aged since diagnosis, the moon face has left my with spider viens on my face and just generally a little haggard looking!

So I thought as I'm doing so well on the other thing let's try and address this too.... maybe there is something I can do about it....

Nope, no laser, peels, injections allowed... too high risk!

I know I shouldn't be so shallow but after years of feeling awful I just wanted to feel more like my old self and to be told no..... Well it's just devastating...

Apologies for moaning I know I should be grateful to be in the place I am health wise and that things could be so much worse but it just got to me today!

Xx

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting the pre-lupus you back. I hate my Cushing appearance. Whatever I do and however hard I try I can't change it so you've done well. Give yourself a pat on the back x

I've been steroid dependent for 7 years years now so moon face is nothing new to me. Its something I've learnt to suck up and live with....I'd rather be able to function.being photosensitive wearing factor 50 everyday regardless and covering up stops the sun causing a skin reaction which makes it look worse. Well done on the weight loss 👏 x

Hi Moog14You be as shallow as you like my lovely😘. I’m sure many of us understand where you are coming from .

What I love about this forum is quite often a post will pop up which will be exactly how I am feeling but didn’t have the energy to post 😅.

Brilliant and well done for the weight loss .. it’s never easy.

There was a fab post a while ago about loads of different foundations / coverups . Might be worth a search as many people that look like they have beautiful skin actually don’t 😉.. it’s just a good quality cover up /foundation

When things feel safer it might be nice to pop along to a cosmetics counter to get colour matched as I think it’s impossible without .

Big hugs 🤗 xxx

Ps have a google of “caci jowl lift” .. could be an option for you if cash allows 😂. Swollen fluid retention face feels much less painful afterwards

Hi Moog, this is such a great achievement! You should be proud of yourself and maybe this achievement will give you a push and eventually/slowly you will start to accept other parts that you can't change without cosmetic procedures! While I was on corticosteroids, I decided to lose weight and I did.. 18 kilos! But corticosteroids causes thinning of the skin and I was left with some huge stretch marks on my waist! This made me feel so envious of my friends that are in their 20s and don't have scars and most of all, a silly immune system that randomly attacks their kidneys or other organs. Anyway, one time one of my friends noticed my stretchmarks and told me that I could do laser, I told her that I will think about it, but in my head I said "NO". These are my battles scars and at some point I will learn to wear them proudly! Hope that someday you will do the same🤗xxP.s. I am a final year student looking for volunteers for my study. I was inspired by the healthy lifestyle I had to follow due to lupus and I am doing a research on the influence of lifestyle on short term memory, if you or other people are interested, here is the link:
