Returning to work

Hi, now that shielding is ending on march 31st, i was just wondering if anyone is returning to work without receiving their 2nd vaccine jab . I thought we were supposed to shield until we have received both jabs ? I got government letter today saying to return to work but it does'nt make sense if we only had the 1st vaccine and are still vulnerable.

Hi. I had the same letter. It didn't make sense to me either.

I think it should be 3 weeks after the 2nd jab, as it take a few weeks for the vaccine to work.

My letter says all shielding stops at the end of March. It does not say this only happens if you have had the 2nd jab, so it applies to everyone. I’ve only had 1 but I don’t work so I am lucky that I don’t need to worry about that. But case numbers are right down and even 1 vaccination gives some protection, especially from severe illness. Your employer is still supposed to provide you with a safe working environment, or if you can work from home I think you are still supposed to do that.
