Hi all,
Today my sister and I went for for our vaccines today. Unfortunately, when we got there we found it was the Pfizer they were doing, so because of our allergies we very disappointedly had to decline it & come back home.
I phoned the day before, but got told that they don't have a phone where they are so I wasn't able to speak with them, also where they take your name, they said that they don't know which vaccine that they are getting delivered that day, which seems rather stupid & dangerous, in other words put up and shut up, be grateful for what you get.
Oh no!! I am so very sorry. Hopefully you will both get the Oxford vaccine very soon xx
I have allergies, SLE, both arthritis and numerous other health problems, I was given the Pfizer vaccine and apart from 4 days off feeling poorly, I am fine, a few cousins of mine had the Oxford one and were really ill for about a week x
I was expecting the Pfizer when I went in january as my sister who went to the same practice had it.
When I got there we discovered it was the Astra one so the 15 minute wait wasn't needed and we were ushered straight outside afterwards. My son asked a man standing close by if we needed to wait and he no the Astra doesn't need the 15 mins wait time.
The service was so efficient, volunteers at every step, it wasn't busy either so were in and out quite quickly. In such difficult times we couldnt have asked for any better really.
I think that you should be asked in the text you get, when you booking your appointment tick which type is suitable for you, but only on medical grounds.
I was happy to have either 🙂 I'm in remission for Lupus, have asthma and kidney disease and my thinking was that if I needed a specific one my gp would have said something.
