I wonder if I could ask all you photophobic / photosensitive people about your experiences swapping out light bulbs around your home to ease your symptoms ... advantages, disadvantages, types of bulbs, etc.
I need to swap mine out as they just aggravate my light sensitivity and could do with some pointers.
Update:
After doing a ton of research I have written a post on some of my findings. If anyone is interested its here:
I have changed lightbulbs to daylight uv free bulbs.whether theyve made a difference I dont know but what I have noticed now is warm white light is no good to me I need daylight white x
Theres a really good article on this on Lupus UK. I changed all mine to filament 2700k (warm white) and installed light fittings that reflect or shade the light bulbs so they don't shine directly onto me. The difference is amazing. We used to have to regularly turn off the main light and just have lamps on because I couldn't handle them, but now we can have main lights on constantly. We also have spotlights in our bathroom (it needs redone) which I used to have to turn off. We changed them to warm white for now and the difference is brilliant.
It wasn't as expensive as you'd think and I now notice when I go to my sisters house how much my face hurts, and how easily I get joint pain etc.
I have LED warm and daylight bulbs everywhere with no problems. I think LED lights emit no to minimal UV rays. I do better with warm white though. I can’t tolerate daylight ones for too long. I actually work out in the dark because of this. There are also shades you can buy that block UV and blue rays which is especially helpful for computer screens which set me off. The fluorescent lights in workplaces crush me. I used to work in a room where I could open the shades for natural light so I could turn the overhead ones off.
