Pausing of Sheilding - Renal Letter

Hey all

Hope everyone is coping in mad times.

Just thought I'd ask if anyone has received a letter regarding the pausing of Sheilding?

I have come home from work, where I was pressured to return to the moment shielding was lifted to a letter that as far as I can make out should have been sent in July.

It essentially states that if you have Kidney disease (I have Lupus Nephritis) that you are extremely vulnerable to Covid 19.

That prior to returning to work my Employer should complete a risk assessment and they I can request a Risk assessment from my Renal consultant.

I have been trying to keep as safe as possible (work in an office) but have recently been stressing out more and more due to the second wave, but thanks to Boris essentially letting us down by not making businesses support us if we choose to sheild again and turns out there were processes that should have been followed 2 months ago!!

Absolutely raging, sorry for moaning but feels like as a group we have been over looked and left to fend for ourselves!

I have been behaving as though I was but its so frustrating.... the letter talks about how encouraging it is that the infection rate is slowing etc.... obviously it was supposed to be sent out over 2 months ago.

If I had known I could get a risk assessment done by my Renal consultant before going back I would have donenit and had something to take to my employer to back up a request to work from home.....

Hi, your anxiety is understandable. That letter was sent in July and shielding suspended on 1st August. But you should be doing risk assessment with your employer and working from home with your particular vulnerabilities. Good luck.in getting sorted
