Sorry but was anyone else under the belief that there should have been an update on sheilding in todays daily briefing.....
I am so pissed off with the fact that as a group we are being completely ignored.... apologies for the language.
Unsure if anyone else is in the same boat but my job is under threat if I can't get back to work soon....
I have tried messaging the Government message service repeatedly asking what provision is being made with regards to the end of Furlough in October if we are still being asked to sheild...
Feel so let down right now x

Yes, been waiting all day expecting an announcement. I just think it's unbelievably shoddy that the UK nations all have different dates for shielding. Makes it so confusing.
I just don't understand how Wales can be 16th August, Scotland 31st July and England (so far unless things change) June 30th. I'm also needing answers for work, they expect us to go back from August and I need to know if that's going to be a possibility for me.
Same I had a call from my work last week asking me to start back in the office, said i couldn't until they release us from sheilding but that there was due to be an announcement today.... then nothing.
My work has already stated that they are looking at making people redundant and if I cant give them any idea of when I can return then I know I'll go to the top of the redundancy list x
My work have announced redundancies too. However, legally if th y make you redundant and it's because you've been unable to return because of Shielding then that's discrimination. Although I know it's hard to prove that would be their reasoning if they don't outright say it. Fingers crossed something is announced in the next few days.
That's the issue, they announced possible redundancies as a knee jerk reaction prior to lockdown, which was also before I was sheilding..... I've been with the company for less than 2 years which means technically they can do what they like....
But if they were to announce some sort of support for companies with staff that are sheilding (once the furlough scheme ends) then it may make a difference but guess it's just a waiting game xxx
I’m ex H.R. if shielding is classed as sick then it’s against the law to make u redundant , however be careful because ur company still has to pay the furlough funds back to the government hence why company will pick on the most vulnerable instead of last in first out so to speak , it crap for you guys that work as you will now have to walk on eggshells so that ur not made redundant good luckxx
Yes they absolutely did say that and of course then didn't follow through. They are just making stuff up on the hoof. Not even pretending to follow the science anymore. It's just all about the economy. I would swear but....
I am very lucky. My contract is remote anyway but people are being put on a horrible position in all this. R rate is very near 1, people are ignoring lockdown rules and the outside world isn't safe for us yet. Had this been handled better, we'd be out by now.
I was told by my consultant that the NHS letter we received earlier, was to be updated extending the shielding dates. As of yet , I haven't received mine and my work are asking for this !
I was waiting anxiously all day to hear the shielding update, tuned into the briefing expecting to hear the update but instead all focus was on the shops reopening and other issues. Not one mention of the thousands of us shielding waiting to hear what’s going to happen to us next. I was shocked but not surprised that we’d been forgotten again. Everyone else is getting back to their lives yet we’re stuck in limbo. If they’re going to extend the shielding period for longer then that’s fine as I’d prefer to be safe but we need to know! I’m expected to be back at work in two weeks in a healthcare setting and the thought petrifies me. It just doesn’t feel safe out there 😔
Hi, my granddaughter is on her way home after having her monthly cyclophosphamide infusion, she has also had another mri scan today, She has been told by her rheumy that she has to shield until there is a vaccine. She hasn’t really been out for 7 months only to manchester and that is literally in the car , hospital and home
I was under the impression like happytulip that an announcement on shielding would be made w/c 15th not necessarily on the exact day, but hopefully we’ll know more soon
My work have said no one has a further letter (I haven’t) but they think further letters will be issued after this announcement was their understanding- who knows 🤷🏻♀️
I was under this impression also, because I saw it in a Lupus UK comment. I presume that they were told this incorrectly from a contact they have or an MP, but it is actually different to what was announced publically. I've now checked the initial public statement.
The Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said: “The next review of the shielding guidance will take place the week of 15 June, which is when we will consider the next steps for shielding beyond 30 June.”
The official NHS England guidance document dated 4 June also states: "The Government has committed to reviewing the shielding guidance alongside each review of the wider social distancing measures to ensure that the latest epidemiology is directly considered with advice to clinically vulnerable groups. They have confirmed the next review will take place the week commencing 15 June 2020."
This tells me that the statement could be at anytime this week.
Hi I’m in same boat as you all, my company have been quite good although after 30th June I’m expected to go onto full sick pay! So far I’ve had 10 weeks off and told to use 2 weeks holiday which seemed bit unfair tbh. Next week I’m expected to fill in an online Occupational Therapy
Assessment to justify why I’m off. Think they’re very unsure what Lupus is lol. We need to know now don’t we.....I’m a supermarket manager who’s on shop floor with over 35,000 customers a week, I’m very anxious to go back yet tbh but need to sometime
