For 30 years I’ve had mild hair loss due to lupus and all the drugs I take. I accepted that. When I developed severe depression, I suffered more hair loss particularly on the crown. I accepted that. When my menopause started hair loss was a feature, but as it’s common and lots of women I know have it I accepted it. In March I suddenly got a pulmonary embolism out of the blue. I’m being treated for it on a heparin drug called Dalteparin and now on month 5 the hair loss is bad. I read that around month 5 hair loss can show on this drug. The dermatologist I spoke to today said I’m going through 3 different types of loss. Do any of you who have suffered from hair have any tips of supplements, treatments, oils etc which helped you hold on to your hair. I’m not expecting miracles, but I want to make sure I’m doing everything that worked for others. Please tell me what type of hair loss you had.
Many thanks! Xx

Hi, it sounds like you have been through the mill but keeping positive. I lost my hair, but it was a combination of hypothyroidism and the cyclophosphamide treatment for lupus. I don’t know if the heparin affected it. There are various hair loss reduction shampoos, plantur is one, again I’ve just seen adverts for it and not used it myself. I actually ended up with a wig, but that was because I was practically bald. My hair did come back. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Keep positive. Xx
Thank you very much for your message. I appreciate you telling me about your experience. I’m getting that your hair actually came back? Let’s hope it’s the same for me. Meanwhile I have some funky scarves. X
