Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum, I have Lupus, diagnosed in 2015, but likely had it for nearly twenty years before this(!)
I wanted to ask if anyone else gets a lot of muscle tension? I find I feel it most in my facial muscles, which can feel really tight and aching with tension, but also in my body as well. Is this a Lupus thing? Or could it be steroid related?
I'm currently taking 9mg Prednisolone (trying to slowly reduce) and 200/400mg Hydroxychloroquine.
Thanks very much

Hi 👋 and welcome.i have sle take prednisolone and hydroxychloroquine as well.i get alot of muscle fatigue in my calves and forearms.i cant say I've noticed it my face but as we all know lupus affects us all differently.i think its lupus related but I also have b12 deficiency anaemia and I think that contributes a little too.
Thanks SML! (Hugs back) Sorry slow reply, bad day yesterday! I think it must be lupus related as you say, other symptoms are piling in now, so seems like a mini-flare
Sorry you had a bad day yesterday.I had a sleep day monday ...had nothing in my limbs at all felt I was running on empty.i hope your flare doesnt get out of hand and soon settles down again.rest up...the chores can wait xx
Welcome. I take hydroxychloriquine and at times prednisolone also. I get a lot of tension and aching in my neck, limbs and sometimes my forehead, a lot of headaches too. I get this regardless if I’m taking steroids or not. I’ve always contributed it to my lupus. Hope this helps
Hello, yes I do feel tension in my jaw, neck and shoulders especially - well, everywhere really but I do try to do yoga which helps to release the tension. I'm not convinced th tension is due to medical issues, looking back I think I've always been that way! (I have a diagnosis of SLE/MCTD/Sjogrens and am on hydroxychloroquine)
My muscle tension is in my face and all over, Lupus is different for each person. Steroids can change the Shape of your face to a moon shape. But tension can happen all over xx
