Sjogren's Syndrome Specialist

I hope that someone in the community could point me in the direction of a rheumatologist in the Liverpool area with an interest in Sjogren's? Like so many others I have had poor experience of certain consultants in the North West. My recent rheumatologist has left and I am currently adrift! Also have lupus, but the main problem at the moment is Sjogren's. Many thanks.

Hi jasmine804 ,

I understand that Dr Mewar at Broadgreen Hospital is a specialist in lupus. Due to the nature of lupus and frequency of overlap conditions, a lupus specialist is likely to have experience with Sjogren's syndrome too.

It may also be worth contacting the British Sjogren's Syndrome Association though - bssa.uk.net/

I am also suffering quite badly with my Sjogrens symptoms so hope the suggestion of a doctor from Paul helps.

Sadly I have not really found my consultant can offer much relief from the pain and swelling in my face .

I have recently had my third ultrasound since diagnosis, as they do need to keep a close check on the glands.

Hope you are happy with the reply.

I hope you find your Rheumatologist, like you I have Sjogrens and lupus, was diagnosed in the early nineties with Sjogrens and last year with lupus, my Rheumatologist left at the beginning of this year during lockdown and I have only spoken to the new one over the phone as they are not doing face to face appts at the moment due to Covid, I wish you luck and hope you are successful in your search x

Hello Rosebud, Thanks so much for your message. I am still trying to find a rheumatologist. Experiencing a bit of a bad time at present. Whereabouts are you in the UK? Hope life is being kind to you. Will stay in touch. x

Hi Jasmine, I am in Wales, I hope things are not to bad for you, I have been having muscle pain in the top of my arms, we're into colder weather now so that won't help us, sending you positive thoughts. X

Hi Rosebud, hope you start to feel better soon. It is difficult at times to stay positive, but each day is different. You're right about the cold weather, especially when there's so little sunshine! I've lived with lupus for most of my adult life and it seems that when one condition fades, another pops up! Will stay in touch💐x.

As Paul stated, Dr. Mewar is a good doctor. My younger sister sees this doctor for RA and they work with the dermatology dept for her problems
