Rheumatology consultant with specialist interest in Lupus

Hello, is anyone in the Humberside/ Lincolnshire area under a n NHS Rheumatologist that has a special interest in SLE. ( Lupus)

I have moved house and need to find a new rheumatologist.

Thank you for posting a response, it was Lupus UK suggested posting on here. They have given me details of consultants, but they are at least an hour and a half from me.

Hi. I live in the South Humberside area, maybe not close enough for your area but I thought I would reply in the hope that it will help. I moved into the local area several years ago, the local NHS Trust covers Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole Hospitals and the Rheumatologists move between sites. I went through my doctor once I had registered locally and asked for an urgent referral to the Rheumatology Clinic and had an appointment within a month, they also have a team of specialist nurses which has been invaluable to me. The clinic has many Lupus patients but the local specialist Lupus Centre would be at Sheffield which is a considerable journey away when unwell. I hope this may have been of some help, if not, I hope you manage to find a specialist soon xx

Hi. My appointments are primarily in Scunthorpe now as more convenient but when I was working in Grimsby, I was able to have my appointments there, it is the same team that administers to both with the admin and Rheumatology Nurses based in Grimsby. My Rheumatologist is Dr Alvi. I hope this has been of help

Hi, I just saw that you see Dr Alvi I'm currently relogging all my symptoms in the hope of my GP will consider referring me to Rheumatology (as the Pain Clinic is asking them) to reassess my fibromyalgia diagnosis and see whether there's an inflammatory autoimmune thing going on instead/as well as. My old GP now retired thought I may have Lupus/Sjogrens but the Ana blood test he did then 2010 disagreed and we never tested for Sjogrens.

I'm thinking if they won't refer me I may go private and Dr Alvi is on my short-list. How do you find him?

Hi. When I moved to the area I saw my doctor and asked for a hospital referral to re-engage with a specialist to help me control my Lupus, so it was an automatic referral within NHS that I was referred to Rheumatology. I do not know if Dr Alvi takes private patients, I would suggest calling either Grimsby or Scunthorpe Hospitals and speaking to the Rheumatology Admin Team for further advice and guidance. My referral was many years ago and may have changed. I hope you get some answers soon 🤞
