My little discoid rash on nose, scab and scaring 🙊 x
yesterday I attempted my first 20min run on couch to 5k, with still a great achievement of 14 consecutive minutes had to finish with just 6mins remaining, I got a little disheartened and with a better mind set this morning thought I’d attempt it again. I am a little sore now but with just a little support from my treadmill I did it!
Now with a few days rest I can now Move onto week 6 eek 😱
Just want to thank everyone who sent me lovely words on the last post, thinking of all your kind words really helped me succeed ❤️ x

You keep on movin’! I read a horrifying article about lack of exercise. Within no time the body starts to change metabolically and move to a pre-diabetic state.
With the help from some wonderful people here, including some serious swimmers, I slowly got back in shape by doing weights and the treadmill at the gym. Now I a blob of dough and my labs are going to be scary. 😫
Must think of some things to do indoors. The weather is not the best for exercising in the city.
You are such an example. We have to do whatever we can do, even if that is getting up out of a chair for a slow walk in the living room.
Hi, like you I'm trying my best to keep myself well by exercising, when the weather's awful I do a walking at home workout with Leslie Sansome on YouTube. They're a fun, easy way to keep fit and you can do a 5k without getting soaked ( you do get a sweat on though!)
Just watched the one mile walk video. Looks great! Really like that you don’t have to get on the floor or get into hard positions. Going to try it tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the tip. Have to do something as I cope with this humidity and no air conditioned gym.
A great fun way to keep fit at home if you have access to one is a games console... if any kids grandkids friends have an old one you can use wii fit, just dance etc it can be real fun and can be done on own or with a family member.
Also resistance bands are also great if you have little room there not expensive and you can stay sat, stand, exercise your arms legs tone in lots of ways etc xx
With 2 spaniels I'm a walker ( miserable out in the rain this morning....got soaked) but they make me move there are some days I cant go as far as I'd like, some days i come home whacked out and need a sleep but it's all worth it in the end xxx
We'll done you! I had my first attempt at the 20min run yesterday. I'd been doing well, with Michael Johnson encouraging me, but I hit a wall and managed only 10mins. I'll try again, but it's a toughy. We'll done!! Especially on a treadmill - that's extra tough!
I think I have rather too many rest days 🤣🤣. Going to rewind today and redo the 2 x 10mins to try and get confidence back. Keep up the excellent work xxx
Excellent work! Before this disease I had run 3 x per week and had competed a half marathon! Running kept me fit physically and mentally. I have tried couch to 5k but can’t get past week 1! Ramping up the run time is just really hard. I think it’s more psychological than physical as I feel a failure not being able to do what I used to. But I will keep going as you have. You have inspired me to keep trying!!! Thank you xxx
Your body and mind is very much different in how you think and can move to before.
I believe a lot is psychological.
I have never been a runner this is very new to me but I was a very, VERY good swimmer and diver before this disease. I could swim from the age of 1 and joined the life saving club at 3. When I got this disease in my teens I stopped swimming almost altogether as the cold water flared my pains.
Swimming was my dream and when and if this pandemic is over I hope to get back into it.
I Know I’ll never be as good as I was as I am 20yrs older now and less fitter, but getting back in the water, training my mind and starting again I believe I can be just as good.
Resting up for couple of days now very sore hopefully start week 6 Sunday. Spend few days going on small walks and maybe a bike ride weather pending xx
Well done, love that your already inspiring others. I'm not much for running ( big boobs, small body 😂). I love walking though and I'm determined to keep myself in best possible place physically and mentally. Keep up the good work 😁
😆 I was less fortunate with the boobs and got extra on my bum 😂 but still walking outside is great! And for mindfulness. If you haven’t already invest in a step counter like Fitbit etc you don’t have to pay lots and it’s a great way to see how many steps you can get in, in a day and you can set yourself a goal.
I started walking round house, garden, up and down stairs just to get steps in, I first set a goal of 5000 steps then put it to 10,000 but you can set your own goals.
Yesterday was my second « walk a mile with Leslie Sansome » that our forum member recommended. I spritz and use my hand held fan to keep cool because of the dysautonomia. But made it through both days.
Thanks for posting and keeping us posted on your progress. I needed some inspiration to figure out how to exercise without the gym. 😀
