Hi I’m new to this site. For the last few months I have developed an itchy rash after being in the sun. Then for the next few days I feel fluey, have enlarged glands, swollen knuckles and am really tired.
My GP did some blood tests one of which was just called connective tissue disease, result was 0.1 ratio (0.0-1.0). So normal. I’ve looked this up on the internet but haven’t found much about this test. Does anyone know if it is the same as the antinuclear antibody test?
So my GP said I don’t have lupus and that the sun doesn’t agree with everyone!
Since then I have developed a raised red round patch on my forehead, used some hydrocortisone cream for 5 days which I bought from chemist but still have it. Also I don’t get a rash after being in the sun anymore but still get really itchy, mainly my scalp, back of neck and top of my back. I try to avoid the sun, keep covered up and wear factor 50 sun cream but its difficult to avoid completely because I have to walk my dog every day. Also I still get days where I feel tired and achy when I have been out and about.
I’m 55, live in the south of England and I have a sister that has discoid lupus, she had round patches on the back of her neck but no other symptoms. She was diagnosed after having a skin biopsy and the dermatologist didn’t think she had lupus.
I have an appointment to see a dermatologist in two weeks time but was wondering if anyone with cutaneous lupus has the same sort of symptoms or any other ideas what might be causing this.
Hope you can understand my ramblings
Bernadette
