Just a quick update on my nerve tests at hospital yesterday, the good news is there is no problem with my wiring but the Doc thinks that I have damage in my feet from where I slipped a disc in my back about 25 years ago where I was in hospital for a week - all I can say about the tests is I never what to go through that again - for an hour I was given electric shocks in my feet and legs and then he put very long thin needles in my hip, buttock and legs right into the muscles, I was coming out in a cold sweat ๐ฐ it was so painful so came home yesterday and had to put my feet up all day, thankfully today the pain has eased but can sympathise with Mira when she got a shock from the electric fence around the chickens .
Talking of chickens, Elvis the cockerel is getting very randy with all his girls (chickens) and keeps jumping on them .
No eggs as yet.
Until Mira Monday x

Thank goodness you have no nerve damage. I am very pleased for you. A weekend of putting your feet up and Mira cuddles will help. I have had the tests twice but no needles involved, it sounds very thorough though which is encouraging. Rest up and recover xxx
Soooo sorry svf ๐คIโve had those test done multiple time on my extremities. The worst one being my right hand where the jolt was so strong it burst a blood vessel taking weeks to heal and use my thumb again.
I hate them too so I empathize very much with you sweetie.
Sorry about but also happy you got a diagnosis about your feet.
That sounds very tough tests svfarmer. Glad your wiring is ok but sorry about nerve damage in feet. They can treat that if its very painful. Good excuse for resting and recovering. My feet are up too so ill think of you. Hope you feel better soon. Xxโฅ๏ธ๐โฅ๏ธ
Oh SV, I'm so sorry you had to endure all that. Especially since I told you it wouldn't last long and wasn't too painful. I was only tested at one site and I had no idea you would have a 'whole body' experience! That must have been awful, poor you.At least it's over now and you can relax knowing that your wiring's intact, even if nerve damage is apparent in your feet.
Thankyou so much - nothing stops Elvis ๐๐๐ the chickens havenโt started to lay any eggs yet but when they do we will have to whip them out quick xx
Sorry to hear that it was such a long and painful process SV - like MEG53, mine wasnโt a long procedure or indeed painful. So glad to hear that your wiring is intact, such a relief for you. Funny to hear about Elvis, thatโs chickens for you! Our cockerel used to try it on with the welly boots outside the back door, as kids, we thought it was hilarious! Well it was! ๐. Hope you are feeling more comfortable now and look forward to seeing Miraโs cute little face tomorrow ๐๐ถ๐๐
You have my greatest empathy SV. I have had the regular NCS/EMG twice and then had special ones done for SPS. Worst pain was when they tested the muscles in my neck. Woo doggie! Honestly, I find that my normal pain from SPS is right up there with EMG about 50% of the time, if you can imagine.
The peripheral nerve damage feeds of misfiring of the nerves. I find that limiting stimulation at night by wearing light socks that are neither too warm or cold, compression socks when flaring or when walking a lot, and making sure you tend to your feet weekly with a good pedicure (this means you are actually inspecting them, making sure the nails are cut correctly, color is good, noting changes etc.). You can paint them if you like. I find if they look good, you feel better about them, and your body in general. Itโs not your bodyโs fault itโs putting you through all this pain with the test (blame some creepy mad scientist ๐ง๐ผโ๐ฌ who thought up a new way to torture us, the patients!). So show yourself and your body a little bit of active love ๐ I hope youโre feeling better soon. That test is a rough one!๐๐๐น๐
Oh my goodness It was bad enough going through those tests once unlike you and having them in your neck - that must have been so painful- Thankyou for your kind words and the good tips xx
