ADDED IMAGE OF POSSIBLE CHICKEN POX
YOu really need to see the GP quickly - if it is CP then antiviral medication will help but it must be started quickly.
Agreeing with PMRpro and happytulip here - starting antivirals Friday is likely to be too late to be helpful.
Hi there -I had my first bout of chicken pox at 43 and frankly it was extremely tough! It started with clear liquid lumps- blisters, after a day in bed unable to get up. Then it really started. The GP came round and diagnosed. After that I went through it. There is a clear time line with CP - the virus builds up to a peak and then starts to recede. Please get clinical support asap (call your GP for urgent further consult) as there are high risks to immune compromised individuals. cdc.gov/chickenpox/hcp/inde... . I needed antibiotics and high level aciclovir meds as was covered from head to foot and in every crevice you can imagine with very high temperature/delirious off and on but didn't know I had lupus at that time and was no way as severe as it is now etc. Please let us know how you get on. D
You poor lady! That sounds horrific. Mine is more contained I’m happy to say. The itching mainly happens at night and I literally scratch myself to bits even with the cream on. I’ve already seen the GP and been given meds.
Thank you 😊
Ok that's good to hear. I dowsed myself in chamomile lotion all the time - it was the only thing to stop me scratching and popping the pox which I desperately wanted to! Murder! If you scratch them they scar (well certainly with the first round of it as I had) so I'd try not to. The lotion worked well up to a point so if you have any I recommend giving it a go. Hope you are on the mend soon. D
re taking antivirals - I started taking them about 5 or more days in plus antibiotics as I remember it (sorry can't remember exactly as had v high temp etc) as some of the pustules were going black with infection and I was in a bad way. Best to discuss with a specialist. Good luck and hope you get all the support you need, I feel for you!
It doesn’t look like chicken pox. They form a water-filled blister.
Hello
Sorry to hear that you've got a rash. Need to check out your other post, to see if you have been unwell with this too.
I've had chicken pox as a child, (along with my two siblings) and my own 3 children have had it too. I also had shingles in 2014, so know how awful it can be.
From the photo, I am not sure it is chicken pox. These are usually very red and angry looking. They itch relentlessly. If you scratch them, they weep and spread. I have two scars on my tummy from itching my worst two as a child, my mum said not to scratch and she was right. They are of different sizes and will cover you form head to foot, scalp, ears - inside and outside and all private areas too. Chicken pox is unmistakable really.
How are you now? Any news from doctors?
Best wishes
Wendy
Hi Wendy. Nice to hear from you. I’m still coming out with spots but not as many now. They are itchy but I’m not covered from head to foot in them. They are on my scalp and behind my ears. Most of them are on my chest and down side of torso. This has been going on for over a week now and done have dried up.
I should hear from the Doctors on a Friday afternoon to confirm if indeed they are.
I’m not convinced myself to be honest as I had a few days of feeling quite nauseous and I don’t think you get that with CP. ?
I will post on Friday and let you know what they believe it to be .
Thanks for your reply 😊
Interesting. Yes, please let us know. Do you get skin involvement with your lupus? Photosensitivity? Or sensitivity to heat? I've had weird rashes on so many parts, inside and behind ears etc and they've all looked different. In the heat I've experienced burning and tingling in my arms. Weird illness this.
