We're very pleased to bring you another interactive activity for World Lupus Day.
Mandy Springham is going to run a Pilates session specifically for the lupus community on Zoom. Mandy is a professional fitness instructor and she'll tailor the session to all abilities and have alternative actions for people who can't do certain things.
Pilates is considered to be an excellent gentle exercise for people with lupus and related conditions. If the session proves to be popular then it may even be possible to establish more regular, weekly sessions throughout the pandemic.
I will be participating in my London Marathon wolf costume! It may be worth taking part just to see my poor confused cats!
Oh definitely Paul - mainly to see you in your wolf suit 🤣 but also think it’s a very good gentle physical activity for us and we’ll all get to wave at each other on zoom!
If anyone hasn’t set up zoom yet it’s really easy and free to download. I’m rubbish at technology but managed x
What a marvellous idea. Yes, I'll give that a go - should be 'interesting' because it's longer than I care to remember since I've done THAT type of exercise 🤣🤣🤣. Or indeed any type of exercise other than walking (dragging, on a bad day 😬).
So...all being well (well, me being well)...I'll join the Zoom meeting at 3pm and happily make a LupusUK donation on the just giving page.
Thank you to Mandy for offering this - it'll be brilliant if it could become a regular weekly session.
The Confused Cats and Wolf Man Paul - an added not to be missed bonus 😮🙃.
Sorry I will have to pass on this, it's too active for me. I'm a little bit busy teaching my nephew maths, English language and RE. So please accept my apology & forgive me for passing up this.
Yes, please. Can the zoom invite be reposted Sunday as tend to lose this kind of thing.
I would definitely be interested in regular exercise stuff as spent a self esteem warming hour last week trawling through exercise for seniors videos on zoom. As I am 48, it was a tad demoralising even more so when I realised some were too strenuous.
I would like to take part and would welcome the reminder on Sunday suggested by Hamptons. Zoom pilates has been a life line to me whilst in lockdown shielding. Donation on its way.
Sounds awesome and I love Pilates, especially for my joint and spine issues. Only problem is that I’m terrible with time. What time would that be PST in the US?
I’m rubbish with working it out too but think you’re behind us time wise as they purposely made the session in the afternoon so US can join in.
Think it depends what part of US though as east coast 6 hours behind ish but think you’re west coast so would be very early morning exercise session!! X
If anyone’s nervous or feeling really fatigued/ sore today, I spoke to Mandy the instructor and she said we can join in by zoom and sit on our floor/ sofas and watch/ join in a bit. No pressure at all.
I’m in hospital and going to zoom in - don’t think I’ll do more than a foot raise or wave this time but good to check it out as she said if we get enough interest she can do a weekly session just for lupus U.K. forum members 🙂
