What matters most is the taste.

I made a pumpkin pie one Christmas came out picture perfect with flaky fluted crust.

Didn’t eat it, don’t like it, then someone thanked me for making it sugarless...😳🥴😬

I am going to a reading group Christmas party today. No baking. We were supposed to bring something Irish but since they didn’t have Irish cheddar at my favorite cheese place, I got Cotswold cheese. My friend said I shouldn’t worry; it’s from the British Isles. 😀

Looks good to me! Fond memories of my MIL’s mini mince pies. Year after year she got huffy because I didn’t like “her” mince pies. Year after year I humbly confessed I don’t like any mince pies.

Christmas pudding is my jam though x

I am having to give mince pies a miss this year. They give me too much acid.

Lisalou... just have to say...yum yum...they look delicious 😋.

The last time I made any they all went home to my Dad's freezer and were used throughout the year - covered in custard so the disaster was hidden 🤣🤣.

But...we had been heavy on the tippling and light on the mixing. And oh how we laughed - the most joyous inedible pies ever - to anyone but my Dad 🤷‍♀️🤣🤣.

Leave it to Americans to mess up a traditional dessert with meat. Also, Georgia O’Keefe would be proud if you catch my drift. 😂 It’s really the taste that matters.

The original mince pies did have meat in them, with the spices! I think traditionally they were made to look like baby Jesus in the manger. Oliver Cromwell did not approve.

This is my foggy history lesson of the day.

They did but that traditional has been long lost. And it was mince meat...like the hard fatty parts on beef all mulled up. I’d imagine it more like lard than meat. Mince pies now are usually fruit and spices. I can’t imagine eating fruit cake with meat in it. 🤮

They look absolutely fine Lisalou, a sprinkling of sugar and perfecto. That's just my chef opinion, I'm sure they'll be great with a nice fresh cuppa
