Would it make any difference if I take my pred at night and not in the morning. Missed taking today and I am not eating like a pig,

As it's night time that our bodies naturally drop in steroid levels I would have thought evening was the best time to take it, but I'm no doctor!! :D worth a try though I would have thought :)

I am always told to take it first thing in the morning, as it can keep you awake at night. For me personally, when I am on high doses, I do find that it affects my sleep, and that is still with me taking it in the morning.

I was told to take in the morning due to to keeping you awake. Would love to know if that's wrong. X

I take it as early as possible as I am often awake until 3am

If you take prednisone at night, it is likely to keep you awake. However, if you miss a dose, then check the dosing instructions that come with the medication. Those instructions will tell you what to do if you miss a dose. As a rule, however, avoid taking it at night if you want to sleep.

Hi lozanne,

I always take mine in the morning as I can't sleep if I take it any later. If I was you I'd miss today's dose.

Hi I always take mine in the morning as I take the Lanzoprazole which stops stomach problems in the morning too, if by any chance I have ever forgotten to take it I have taken it as soon as I have remembered it. My docs always said it is better to get it in my system late than not at all but never take two doses together. So I use this as a pretty good guide for most things now and I always seem to be fine. I think it is best that your body gets what it needs eventually even if it is at night rather than the morning. Pred does not make all people eat huge amounts and with many people that is psychological too. Eat three reasonable meals a day and keep stress off your joints try to keep the pain down.

Good luck and I hope you are keeping well on the pred. :-)

I switched to taking my tablets at night because with getting the kids ready for school, then loads of jobs I would just forget! I don't feel it's made any difference.
