amlodipine side effects

has anyone had an irregular heartbeat since starting amlodipine and/or an increase in blood pressure? will the heartbeat go back to normal or is it permanent? dr's say they don't know what is causing the irregular heartbeat yet it is listed as a side effect.

thanks :)

Oh what a picture! A tiny-pawed Good Dog! :)

I'd hazard a guess 😂 and say your doctors are clueless....based on my own substantial experience of less than knowledgeable medics

drugs.com says this:

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking amlodipine:

•Difficult or labored breathing

•dizziness

•fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse

If you go here:

drugs.com/sfx/amlodipine-si...

you can print it as a PDF and email to your docs. Or do that with what you've found. Go on, educate them :)

Ps they say cynics live shorter lives - I should have died some time ago! 😅 😅 😅

me too, cynical and sarcastic. got the missing beat last night, first time since I stopped taking the tablets. palpitations and BP have also gone down.

Miss Mandy may have small paws but it doesn't stop her treading on me.

the drugs.com thingybob said it can take a few days for the system to be rid of it, so hopefully that's the last missed heartbeat...till little miss big paws treads on you again :)

It's enough having a chronic illness without Dr Prats prescribing meds that make us worse without a care in the world because there's absolutely no come back when they get it wrong....willing you a strong, regular rhythm and no dog claws to the feet! xxx

I have pincer nails like dogs' claws and it's not a pleasant experience shortening them! Take a leaf out Buckley's book and tell yon docs what they need to know! xxx

Hi. I could not handle that drug. I gave it about 3 months. Shortness of breath and terrible body aches.

hi, it's the second time I have had to take it. the first time it just increased my BP this time increased BP and irregular heartbeat, the GP I saw just said it can't increase BP and ignored the irregular heartbeat. what is the point of an info sheet in the tablet box telling me when to tell a doctor about side effects if the doctor dismisses it?
