Hi Caninecrazy

Too right, if only!. I suppose there's always Viagra if you could cope with trying yet another pill! X

YES: good one!

and: I'm almost 2 weeks into 500mg myco (MMF) daily....so far, THE main myco side effect for me seems to be....wait for it:

I feel TOTALLY repulsed by anything alcoholic & anything with sugar in it....am not even tempted by these sorta food stuffs...WHAT? I thought maybe this would fade away, but....NO! Just when I need to shed the extra pounds I piled on thanks to prednisolone & Amitriptyline, not to mention the Xmas/new year festivities....

Has anyone else had this reaction to myco?

I had weight loss with MMF - it stabilised after a while but I now find it difficult putting the weight back on. Not that I want the weight but something isn't right if all the sugar and fat that I eat don't show. Keep a record of your weight till your next consultation - measure it each day at the same time, without clothes on. If you start losing weight it is good for the doctors to know how much in what period.

I haven't had your reaction to alcohol and sugar but as you said, it isn't a bad reaction to have...

Hi Purpletop, I am also on MMF. Have been on it since last April. Have lost weight but had no idea it could be down to meds. I was really impressed because I indulged in Quality Streets and Roses over the Christmas break and expected to gain weight. However, when I was weighed at GP surgery I was told I actually lost rather than gained. I was totally surprised but happy! Nice change to lose weight now having come off steroids!

Loss of weight suggests the meds trigger some gastro toxicity. Keep an eye on it - if you keep loosing more than a particular amount over 3 months, they'll need to consider whether to continue with the MMF. Which is why you need to keep a record of your weight - it is good to lose weight but not if it is due to toxicity. Mine stopped falling but I'm still checking it every so often, in case.

Thank you for letting me know, I had no idea it could be down to MMF. I will keep an eye on it as you suggest.

Well, I'd really like to lose some weight, I'm on the MMF, have been for around 7 weeks now, no weight loss as yet, but was on 30mg pred, now down to 10mg so fingers crossed as I really could do with some weight loss having gained 3 stone in 3 years!!! Aargh!

The extreme sexiness is all in the mind, and that of the person you are with! Swallow the pills and hey ho life is for living and make the most of it despite the side effects and the SLE! Enjoy what you can do while you can do it sweetie. ;-)

All the best Madmagz x
