Morn fellow lupies

Where do I start! Skin issues.

Got a strange rash/mark on my leg. S shape with a translucent circle in the middle which you can’t see well on the photo. Showed to Rheumy last time I went but as I keep getting pawned off to a trainee it was pointless and I got no further forward. Had for about 3 months I suppose.

Also having issue with underarms.

Finally dragged myself to GP this week. He’d said he had not seen mark like what’s on my leg before. He didn’t think it was fungal but then proceeded to prescribe fungal cream, just in case. Useless. Don’t want to use prescribed creams as could make worse. Wandered if lupus related but have no clue really.

Showed GP underarms. Again said doesn’t think fungal as too smooth, whatever that means. Not sore but deffo itchy. Prescribed Betnovate.

He’s playing with psoriasis. This is because he knows I have to see Dermatology soon as been referred by Rheumy whose also playing with psoriasis due to previous nail issues.

I’m starting to hate doctors

Can’t use deodorant so am paranoid I stink although been told not. Don’t go out much this weather so that assists.

Just so fed up with it all.

would be very grateful for any input.

Thank you x

Am no expert, but to me this pic looks v like the classic wolf-bite lupus rash...am not surprised a GP wouldn’t recognise it. Am glad you’re taking pics to show consultants - you’re right: a proper lupus expert consultant should recognise it. my version of these sort of rashes was more active when i was undermedicated systemically. But for sure some of the medics i’ve seen have been clueless. Makes me feel fed up too!

Of course, we can be prone to all sorts of AID-related rashes cause lupus tends to involve all sorts of secondaries -in my case thus means small vessel vasculitis related rashes, marks & lesions. Often these developed secondary bacterial infections. So my medics prescribe me the topical fucidin H (steroid + antibiotic). Others are more prone to fungal infections so need prescrip topicals combining steroid + fungicide...or even steroid + a general antimicrobial

Hope something in there is useful

PS i hesitate to give this link, cause some of the photos show such severe cases, but , perhaps you know this site already? For me, this official NZ dermatology website has always been among the best...and if you scroll down the page, to:

Subacute cutaneous lupus in SLE

there’s a pic on the far right of an arm (i think) with a patch of sorta circular clear centred rash, which shows the wolf bite effect v clearly
