Hi Djlr, More great stuff posting, Thank you!!! And silly me, you recommended that book to me when I first joined up here in the hub, It is sitting next to me at my desk, I read it all the time. Everyone who can,I highly recommend getting this book. It is a world of information, insight, care , knowledge, it is my lupus bible. Are you the author??? Just wondering about the possible connection. Sorry, I had to ask. Web site is very intriguing, and I am sure that anyone here with us will want to take a look at the vast properties the site has to offer. I, like many of us with lupus, have trouble just making it through a day sometimes, let alone researching and reading about what is wrong with us today. Many times when we are down trotten, just knowing the hub is here 24-7, and asking fellow hubies is just the only comfort we need. This support system that spans the miles, and breaks all barriers brings us closer to each other than any generation before. Like threading a needle, we all could use a magnifying glass sometimes, and you are the thread that helps keep us together. Thank you Djlr for helping us stay that way. Keep posting and we will keep seeking the truth. peace blessings thestorm💕 Webinar is well worth watching!

Thanks - but I am not the author.🙃I just use this book a lot with my lupus support group. It’s great to know that we can help each other and share what we are learning.

Our Lupus group finds that the Lupus Encyclopedia is very helpful and also his videos for the basic Lupus Secrets, that he suggests in helping make our lives stronger living with lupus.

Some doctors do not always remind us of the “simple things that we can do” like avoiding “alfalfa sprouts” which can cause “joint pain in lupus patients” - it is their amino acid L canavanine which can disrupt our T and B lymphocytes in our autoimmune disease - lupus.

Also, his recommendation of a higher Vit. D level was even recommended by my “pharmacist” as a great defense against getting the flu- it builds our immune system the “correct way”. We are usually low in Vit D since we can’t be in the sun, etc....of course we should get a “flu shot”😊

Check dr len horowitz regarding flu vaccines.

I would encourage anyone reading about this person's opinions to do so with extreme scepticism. His claims are not supported by clinical evidence and his advice could be extremely dangerous and cost lives. There is a wealth of evidence showing that high-risk groups for flu have significantly higher mortality rates if they do not protect themselves with the annual vaccine. With a small minority of exceptions people with lupus are advised to get the flu vaccine due to their weakened immune system and increased risk of complications from the flu, such as pneumonia.

Dr horowitz is a dentist/ political activist not an MD. Dr Thomas, who encourages vaccines, is a certified rheumatologist with real life knowledge of how beneficial vaccines are to patients.

I liked seeing his warning on Alfa sprouts and echinacea. I was diagnosed in the late nineties when echinacea was all the rage. Every well intentionioned friend would insist I try echinacea for my fatigue. As a vegetarian, I already ate a lot of alpha sprouts but decided to start echinacea and after just a month I broke out with a butterfly rash, had a very high ANA and was excreting protein in my urine. I ended up on deltasone for months. I have never touched vitamin c, alpha sprouts or echinacea since and have not needed any treatment for my kidneys or skin either. Reading his list is making me second guess my hesitation to go on HCQ when I do not have flare symptoms presently. Thank you for posting

That’s interesting Rorah. Before I took ill with myelitis at the start of the year, caused by some sort of auto-immune reaction, I was taking high doses of echinacea. I work in a school and didn’t want to get a cold as it was coming up to the half term break so I had increased my dose. It makes me wonder if it was a contributing factor to tipping me over the edge.

SRiley , there have been studies which have shown that echinacea can trigger lupus flares, so it is possible.
