That really isn't fair! I think we have to pay too much to be ill as it is!
I got mine last month, so will have to see if I have it this month. The 1 I get from the docs reacts with my face and I get even more rashes. So I also use Malibu face 50+. I get it from Home Bargains where their Suncreams are very cheap compared to the likes of boots.
I was told by my GP practice + area pharmacist about 2 months ago that a number of meds that were once available on prescription will have to be purchased over the counter. I was told it was down to cuts. This even includes children's meds.
The pharmacist was quite angry as he was annoyed that once again the cuts we see in England do not apply to Scotland.
No comments from others please about politics, I am merely stating what the pharmacist told me.
I'm sorry to hear that this has happened, but since you have a diagnosis of lupus you have a defined clinical need and therefore are still eligible for prescriptions of high factor sunscreen. I would recommend that you speak to your consultant or specialist nurse and ask them to write to your GP requesting that they prescribe it for you.
We will have a printable information sheet about this shortly which I will share in the forum. It was written by a Specialist Lupus Nurse and is just being checked by Prof Caroline Gordon before we publish it.
I’ve had mine stopped too, I have tried calling the medicine manager for the past 3 weeks to discuss it. She is always in a meeting and never returns my calls, very frustrating. My GP says it’s up to the prescription pod people andvto contact them, but she will not speak to me, so I am left dangling.
Hi Mum2 . The review by the NHS did agree to stop prescribing sunscreen, with the exception of those who have a defined clinical need, such as people with lupus.
