I posted a few weeks ago as my rheumatologist sent me for hepatitis blood tests and I was worried sick! I saw him today and he said I had a positive result for autoimmune hepatitis. He is referring me to a liver specialist, but with no urgency which has reassured me. I am on hydroxychloroquine for the lupus and he said I will probably be put on azathioprine by liver consultant. Is there anyone on here with lupus and AIH? Any advice gratefully received. By the way, I seem to be lucky enough to have a rheumy who is so kind and positive.

Good to hear your rheumatologist is so thorough, hope the outcome from
Sorry, swiped the wrong way there...... to continue.... hope the outcome from your liver specialist is as helpful. I’ve just been diagnosed with lupus but when I look back, I could have had it for years. I’m saying this because I also had a bout of what might have been hepatitis although my GP couldn’t positively diagnose it. Perhaps this could have been due to an autoimmune disorder. Just a thought. Anyways, I seem to be fine now with my liver working well so I hope your outcome is as good. 😁
Hi Bleeny - AIH is where it all started for me. I was initially being treated for some joint pain and was given a steroid injection by a rheumatologist, who also took my bloods. The next day she called my GP and said my ALT reading was sky high (over 600 when it should below 40). I did not feel particularly ill but was advised to attend A and E. The reading came down thankfully and I was referred to a liver specialist, who advised a biopsy and confirmed AIH. I was initially on azathioprine but am now on hydroxychloroquine and my ALT and LFT readings have been ok ever since.
Best wishes
Mark
