Simple cold.

A very minor question really, having repeated colds and chest infections this winter already, can some one tell me why I still have a cold two weeks after it started, I can never just get rid of them. They seem to be mild then bad then seem like it’s going now it’s back full force again. My husband got rid of his in two days. After a while it tends to go to my chest and that’s what worries me. I eat very healthy lots of fruit. Any more suggestions. Nothing is simple with autoimmune illness is it. 😱 I know it seems simple but boy with everything else it doesn’t feel it.

Lupus sufferers are often on some kind of immune suppressants which make catching a cold easier and more difficult to shake off.

Are you taking vitamin d3. It has been shown to help fight off colds and flu. A lack of it will hinder things. We can produce it ourselves in the sun but there's not much about in midwinter.

Vitamin C fights colds and infection, but at molecular level it is very similar to glucose in the body. So if you eat a lot of sugary things, or even carbohydrates that break down into glucose the body may not feel the benefit of the vitamin c. So you will need more or reduce the carbs and sweet stuff.

Dairy products and wheat are mucus producing.

Lemon and ginger help cut mucus and honey has anti bacterial properties so making hot drinks with these ingredients can help.

Fresh herbs are powerful as they are good sources of vitamins and minerals to help combat infections.

Dark chocolate with a very high cocoa content is a source of zinc which works well with vitamin c.

A cup of real cocoa at bedtime can therefore be useful. It's a good source of magnesium as well which aids a good night's sleep.

Hope some of these hints are useful.

Just remembered, another thing that can aid sleep is old fashioned Vick menthol rub. Slap it all over, well over chest and back at least before sleep. It's also supposed to be good for babies rubbed on the soles of their feet.

Wow that was quick, I will definitely look into the Vitamin D3. Also look into some of the other things. Thank you for your help. 👍

Hi Gillyg

😊🌿🌸🦋

If this has been ongoing dear you need to see an ENT to figure out the cause. Anytime you have autoimmune problems whatever is mundane to those without AI issues is a major problem for us.

An ENT should find the cause and test you accordingly.

In the meantime you can drink chicken broth to try to sustain you, you can buy the unsalted version and add your own plus admend it to your taste. This is what aids me whenever I start feeling sick I always use this natural aid until I see my ENT. It really does work.

Best wishes for the cause and treatment.

Take care and abundant blessings dear.
