It’s been a while since I posted a message but just wondering if anybody else with lupus is struggling financially. I pay monthly for my prescriptions which is a god send . But anything else I pay for I have an eye test today which I have to pay for . I tried for pip but got nowhere as I work 30 hours stupidly . Would love to work less but can not afford it . Pip said I could drive and walk on good days so not viable . Thankyou for reading x

Why don't you pop in to your local CAB,they have all the info needed for someone in your position.

Hi barbdockeray,

If you are on a low income and live in England you may be eligible to receive financial help through the NHS Low Income Scheme. The scheme covers:

– Prescription costs

– Dental costs

– Eye care costs

– Healthcare travel costs

– Wigs and fabric supports

To find out more and how to apply, read our blog article on ‘managing finances’ here lupusuk.org.uk/managing-fin...

With you all the way honeybun, as a currently-workless singleton-mortgageholder. CAB should be able to get you on the best deals for utilities etc. Try moneyadviceservice.org.uk too (free and government-funded). If you have debt, try stepchange.org and/or payplan.com (also free and impartial). Join a credit union (I was lucky to get membership on £1/month) for a cheap loan to consolidate debt at a low interest rate and/or give you a bit cash for breathing space...otherwise (very controversial...) move to Scotland - if not already here - where the things on the NHS Low Income Scheme are free. You have to put up with the SNP and foul weather as average though...can't even find a Scottish emoji, pah. Stay stress-free, let us know how it goes! mo xxx

Hi lovely. PIP isn’t based on how many hours you work so I would appeal as I work full time. I am only able to qualify for low care because my mum or hubby do all the cooking and my hubby helps me wash but I was told by the rather lovely interviewer who came to my house that I didn’t have to worry about my work hours as it’s not means tested and is meant that to be able to help people stay in work xx
