Well after being on Planquenil and Steriods for 18 months I wasn’t getting any better and so my Rheumatologist introduced me to Methotrexate and after a few months( not sure exactly) my health started to improve. I called it my wonder drug . I went up on the dose of Methotrexate very slowly and yes it has been a long slow ride with highs and lows but very gradually I have become stabilised on Methotrexate. I have also managed to come off my Steriods. You will have to have regular blood tests if you have Methotrexate to check all inside is ok but that’s just routine and it’s never been a problem for me . Please don’t be anxious about this new Medication.. I suggest you write a long list of questions for your Consultant to ask him/her etc
Lupus is a balance between your Symptoms and your Side Effects . But you will get there . I’ve had Lupus for over 20 years and I’m still on Methotrexate but been slowly lowering my dose .You must take naps when you can and try and pace yourself if possible. Good Luck with everything and I m sure you will be fine and Be Positive! And Take Care!
Perhaps it would be a good idea to ring your rheumatologist and ask if you could know more information about this antibody over the telephone before attending your next appointment.
