Painful lymph nodes/tissue?
Hi , i have Sjögrens and during flares my lymph nodes all swell and are pain . My stomach can be painful but it is much worse under my arms . I would advise you to mention it to your doctor, particularly if you have not discussed it in the past . Feel better soon 🌸
Mine swelled up so much that they thought I had appendicitis and landed up in surgery. It was only when they opened me up they saw how big my glands were.
I get them in my arms and thighs when I flare or am over tired. They come up very quickly. But you should still get it checked out. Its very easy to put everything down to Lupus when lots of other things can cause swollen lymph nodes. X
Hi Museumgirl,
Have you discussed your symptoms with your GP or rheumatologist?
According to The Lupus Encyclopaedia, “Anywhere from 40% to 50% of SLE patients will have lymphadenopathy with swollen lymph nodes often noticeable in the neck, armpits and groin. In some people, the lymph nodes swell during flares of their lupus, but sometimes they can remain slightly swollen even when the lupus appears to be well controlled”. The encyclopaedia further states that the swelling of lymph nodes can be due to other reasons such as infection and cancer- a person experiencing this symptom should seek advice from a doctor immediately.”
If you develop particularly large lymph nodes, your doctor may get a biopsy to determine whether this is due to your lupus or to lymphoma.
Please let us know how you get on, wishing you all the best.
