Hi kim , i used black seed oil when i had a painful burning pain on my scalp . I just rubbed it on at night for 2 weeks and the pain , that i had had for several months, went away . I did try taking it off a spoon but it tastes awful ! I hope it works for you and makes a difference 😀
Does it not occur to you that any "natural cures" that are strong enough to have any effect will also have "side effects" - all side effects are are other effects other than the one you happen to want. Pharmaceutical drugs are at least subject to heavy monitoring and quality control. All the touted "natural cures" (which are rarely cures anyway) have no such monitoring or quality control and you have no real guarantee that they are safe - or even the stuff you think you are buying. Above all - while a given "natural cure" may help in some things, it may not help for the illness you have. Black seed oil very probably DOES have a beneficial effect in asthma and studies are being carried out on it. There is no mention that it might work in lupus.
It is good to hear that you were experiencing less pain - has this continued?
Have you discussed your use of these complementary therapies with your consultant? It is important to talk about them because they can help make you aware of any potential adverse effects or interactions with other treatments. Black seed oil might slow blood clotting, reduce blood sugar, and increase sleepiness in some people. There is also no evidence to show that it is safe for long-term use.
It is worth discussing your concerns about pharmaceuticals with your consultant. While complementary therapies may help with some symptoms, they are generally not going to target the underlying problem. If you are worried about certain side effects then your doctor may be able to help by taking time to talk to you more about these.
PMRpro is correct that pharmaceutical drugs are more more heavily tested and regulated so their effect is much more predictable. 'Natural' doesn't necessarily mean 'safe'.
The problem is, the pharmaceutical representative(s) would say anything nice/good about the drugs to consultants. I was told by one consultant, who's a good guy. Wise consultants know these have bad side effects and tell patients that these may carry toxic effects, especially in people with SLE or similar, so just be aware and let me know if you developed any problems. But this is rarely done, consultants prescribe as usual and patients go home, riddled by layers of side effects on top of existing symptoms over time, thinking "how come when I should be better?" So the mould is set. Patients don't trust these things to help, but actually, damage us in some serious ways. I am no anti-this or anti-that, personally. But we all know something is missing from the mainstream medicine to deal with this type of illness. The consultants look at the number in your lab results, they dish out medicine. Autoimmune diseases would be laughing. That's not holistic and that won't work. Patients would have to evolve when the mainstream medicine failed to work on a systemic disease like SLE.
